During my stay, I got to learn so much about the local culture—especially through food! I tried some unique traditional dishes that I had never heard of before, and it was such an eye-opening experience. The homemade drinks were also a surprise—some were much smoother than I expected, making them dangerously easy to enjoy!
The conversations I had here were also a highlight of my stay. It was fascinating to exchange cultural insights and discover how much we could learn from each other. I was truly impressed by my hosts’ knowledge and appreciation of different cultures, which made every discussion engaging and fun.
The environment was wonderful, and I loved being surrounded by a mix of nature and a welcoming home atmosphere. There was also a great balance between social time and personal space, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, this was an unforgettable experience, full of cultural exchange, delicious food, and great company. If you’re looking for a welcoming and enriching Workaway stay, I highly recommend it!

I had the opportunity to do a two-week Workaway experience at Jan's place in the Czech Republic, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable and fulfilling experiences I've had. … read more Veronika made sure the work was manageable and never overwhelming ( I never felt rushed or under pressure). What I really appreciated was the flexibility—there was plenty of free time after finishing the tasks, which allowed me to chill and explore the surrounding area. Jan and Veronika were incredibly kind in offering suggestions on where to go, what to see, and what to eat. They really took the time to ensure that I had the best experience possible during my stay.
From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms. Jan, Veronika, and their children made me feel like I was part of their family. It was fun taking with Jan and Veronika about different topics (culture and traditions, home schooling, natural birth, etc..) I loved our chats on everything from Czech culture to personal stories. Their daughter, Alethea, is a very nice, energetic girl. She loves to sing, draw, and share her positive spirit. I also got to know Jeronym, their little toddler. Even at his young age, he is one of the kindest babies I’ve ever met. It was a joy being around him.
Also the food!! Although their meals are mostly vegan, I never felt like I was missing out on anything. In fact, even if you're not vegan, you won't have to worry—the food is so delicious, you'll find yourself asking for seconds. I really miss all the foods they prepared for me.
Thank you so much for a truly unforgettable experience. If you ever get the chance to do a Workaway here, consider yourself very lucky. You won’t regret it! I can’t recommend it enough, and I hope to return someday to visit them again.

I stayed with Veronika, Jan and the little Alethea for about one month in summer 2021. They live not far away from the city of Prague, Czech Republic.

… read more a long time. I am very happy that I met this open-minded, kind and lively family and I always felt part of the family (even if it was for only 1 month).
I also had the possibility to get in touch with the Czech culture: for instance, we spent a weekend in the very countryside with Veronika’s parents, eating typical food and singing/playing Czech songs till evening, it was a great "adventure" for me!
They showed me around the neighborhood and around the city the first days I was there, I learnt some words in Czech, that I still remember btw, and I learnt a little bit about this new way of life.
I didn’t have a specific task: sometimes it was gardening, sometimes helping cooking and sometimes babysitting; Alethea is the cutest little girl I’ve ever seen: always smiling and very easy to deal with.
I loved how Veronika and Jan were educating Alethea, because they left her the freedom to express herself without impositions and I believe it really works.
I am thankful that I got the chance to make all these memories and that’s why I definitely recommend staying with this family :)
