my name is rodrigo I live with my two children in a country place near to Concón and Viña del Mar. We have all kinds of animals like alpacas, dogs, cats, birds, llamas, We need feminine help to join us in making the place beautiful and give it a special touch. The work is entertaining and creative like planting flowers, watering plants, feeding fish, taking care of garden, design the house etc.

I spent 2 1/2 weeks with Rodrigo from Mid-december until New Year and it was one of the nicest Christmases I've had. I started the workaway on my own. After just under a week two American girls joined last minute.

Rodrigo is the nicest, most generous host imaginable. Communication pre-arrival was excellent. The accommodation is a self-contained… read more separate house on his land. It was absolutely luxurious in terms of WA accommodation and the terrace has the most amazing views across the valley.

I started off helping with painting at another property he was doing up. In between I did some cleaning and weeding and little jobs at his house. I was put on cooking duty some days. Mostly Rodrigo cooked and it was always absolutely delicious!
Rodrigo went out of his way to include me in his daily activities, teach me about Viña, Chilean dishes and life in ConCon.

After the other workawayers joined, he only took us to the property he was working on one more time. Unfortunately it meant during the week Rodrigo wasn't around much as he was working on the other renovation project. We continued weeding at his plot of land, cleaned the pond, planted some cacti and bits and bats. I wish we could have done more as what we received in return was priceless. Rodrigo even got us each a Christmas present!

His eldest son was the same age as the girls. They got on really well. He gave us lifts into Viña, took us to his football matches, we had movie marathons over Christmas and he even treated us to the cinema on our last day!

The only thing to be aware off is that Rodrigo's property is out of town, not connected by public transport. You rely on Rodrigo or his son to get you anywhere, which at times meant disrupting his day to get some shopping or complete other errands and I didn't get to see as much as I would have liked. If you can legally drive in Chile he'll lend you a car and it's definitely a bonus!

Pasé 2 semanas y media con Rodrigo desde 13 de Diciembre hasta año nuevo. Fue una de las navidades más inolvidables que he pasado. Al principio de mi workaway estaba solamente yo. Después de una semana llegaron dos chicas de los EEUU.

No hay anfitrión más amable o más generoso que Rodrigo. La comunicación con él antes de llegar era excelente. El alojamiento es en una casa separada, todo lujoso y súper amplio con unas vistas muy bonitas desde la terraza.

Mis primeras tareas eran pintar en otro casa que Rodrigo estaba renovando (no en ConCon, pero en un pueblo más al interior). Además realicé trabajos de mantenimiento, limpieza o en el jardín de la casa principal. A veces me encargó preparar la comida, pero la mayoría del tiempo Rodrigo cocinaba...todo riquísimo! Rodrigo siempre estaba muy atento y se esforzó en incluirme en sus actividades diarias. Me enseñó sobre Viña, platos típicos de Chile, la vida en ConCon, etc.

Después de que llegaron las otras chicas solamente volvimos a la casa de renovación una sola vez. El resto de los días trabajamos en el jardín de la casa de Rodrigo. Él mismo se fue al otro pueblo entre semana, para supervisar las renovaciones, así que lastimosamente no vimos mucho de él.
Me da un poco de pena que no hicimos más cosas, porque el no estaba para encargarnos más tareas. Rodrigo nos trató súper bien y lo que vivimos con el no tiene precio. Hasta nos compró un regalo de Navidad a cada una!

Su hijo mayor tenía la misma edad que las chicas y se llevaron súper bien. El nos llevó a Viña en coche varias veces, nos invitó a sus partidos de fútbol, hicimos un maratón de películas en Navidad y en nuestro último día con ellos nos invitó a una función del cine.

Lo único para notar es que la casa queda afuera de ConCon y no esta conectado al transporte público. La única manera de salir o ir a súper o algo es con Rodrigo o su hijo. A veces eso complicó las coas, porque ellos tenían que cambiar sus planes para llevarnos. No permitió tantas oportunidades para conocer lugares alrededor. Si tiene licencia para manejar en Chile les ayudará mucho y Rodrigo les prestará un auto.

Nous avons passé 2 semaines avec Rodrigo et ses fils.
Travail physique mais on a passé de bons moments. Attention au Piscola ! 😂
Évidement avec le contexte de la pandémie, nous n'avons pas pu profiter de ce qui se trouve aux alentours.
