Hi workawayers!

I'm from York, England and have been living in London for the last 5 years. I've loved the city life but very much craving reconnecting with nature and looking to live at a slower pace for a while. I have been working as a Scientist in cell biology and recently got made redundant from my job in February 2026. In a way it has worked out for the best as I have been fantasising about travelling and now I'm in the very fortunate position where I can take some time to explore new pastures.

I strongly value helping others and adventure. I love meeting new people and soaking up their stories and knowledge. I want to help and contribute to peoples projects wherever I can and avoid being a passive tourist passing through places.

I've had some wonderful workaway experiences so far - helping with a local pencil case making business in Sri Lanka, working at a hostel in Malaysia and farming in Vietnam.

A big passion of mine is sustainability and conservation of both plants and animals.

A great experience I had was volunteering at a Marine Science Centre in Galicia, Spain where I supported research in to the conservation of marine mammals. Any work with animals will not feel like work at all for me! I grew up around horses and dogs and they bring me so much joy.

I'd love to get stuck in helping with any gardening work. I'm keen to learn more about how to cultivate plants, crops and herbs, especially those that have medicinal uses and see different cultures approach to this.

I also enjoy photography, journalling, sketching and hiking. I've only surfed a handful of times in my life but loved it everytime, so I'm eager to do more on my travels!

I value the simple things, so I don't require too much to feel content. I also have a very chilled and relaxed side. I am happy to go with the flow and trust others opinions. I value authenticity in people. I am also happy to offer a non-judgemental listening ear.

I have volunteered throughout my whole life and want to continue doing so, learning from others as I go and bringing that experience with me to new volunteering projects.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am a caring individual with a strong work ethic, which allows me to learn new skills quickly. My creative and inquisitive nature lends itself naturally to adapting to new environments and I enjoy the challenge that uncertainty brings. I am also an energetic, happy and quietly confident woman. Honestly always willing to give anything a go!

Love love love animals and nature, very up for any outdoor work. I've volunteered in community gardens and love getting my hands dirty.

I have lots of experience in hospitality roles which involved customer service, preparing food and drinks, organising a team, cleaning and also curating an aesthetically pleasing environment.

I've volunteered with local girl guiding groups, helping to organise activities and look after the kids.

I have done some fundraising and helped create content for charity campaigns before.

I'm a detail oriented and technically minded person - I'm a cell biologist and I've worked as a technician in biological laboratories. I have developed a high degree of dexterity and physical stamina from my time running around labs! I also find science to be very creative as well as logical, as it involves thinking outside of the box to problem-solve and linking multiple concepts to grasp the overall picture.

I love photography and know I would jump at the chance to try some social media/digital marketing work.

I naturally enjoy creative activities and though I wouldn't describe myself as gifted I want to develop my artistic skills.

I also love any kind of movement. I stretch daily, climb, dance and love follow-along yoga videos. I would value the opportunity to grow this side of myself.

I'm a native English speaker and more than happy to teach. I am very interested in learning other languages and love connecting with people through this.
