Hello, my name is Stephen.

I am originally from Colombia, although I lived in the United States for many years. Recently, I have been moving away from a conventional lifestyle and looking for more direct, grounded ways of living and learning.

My background is in Engineering, but over time I have worked in different environments that required discipline, adaptability, and hands-on involvement, including field-based work where I was involved in on-site problem solving and execution under real conditions. This has shaped my interest in simplicity, sustainability, and working with what is available.

At the moment, I dedicate part of my time to independent study and long-term projects that require focus and consistency, but I am intentionally looking to balance that with physical work and real-world experience.

I have traveled using platforms such as Couchsurfing, including time in Japan, always with the intention of cultural exchange rather than tourism. I recently joined Workaway because I want to experience a different way of living, contribute in a meaningful way, and learn directly from people working closely with the land.

I am especially interested in off-grid environments, sustainability, and projects that require physical effort, discipline, and commitment. I am not looking for comfort, but for experience and learning.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have experience in hands-on environments and I am comfortable with practical, physical work. I have worked in field-based roles, including as a field engineer, where I was involved in on-site problem solving, coordination, and execution of tasks under real conditions.

I am physically capable and willing to do demanding work. I learn quickly and adapt to new tasks, whether it involves gardening, basic construction, moving materials, or general maintenance.

I am disciplined, reliable, and used to following through on responsibilities. I pay attention to instructions and can work independently once I understand what needs to be done.

I am comfortable with simple living conditions and understand that this type of experience requires effort, consistency, and a good attitude.

I dedicate part of my time to independent editorial and writing work, currently focused on a long-term project. This is something I pursue on my own terms, and I value being able to balance it with physical, hands-on work.

I am interested in simple environments where I can focus, work, and learn without unnecessary distractions. I enjoy quiet time, reading, and reflection, but I also value shared work, conversation, and contributing to the space I am in.
