Description
I am currently completing my final year studying Russian Studies and Spanish at the University of Edinburgh, and I feel that my degree reflects my passion for learning languages and immersing myself in new cultures. My enthusiasm for discovering new corners of the world and connecting with others motivates me to engage in my language studies as much as possible, and I am incredibly excited to continue travelling once I graduate in 2025.
At the end of 2023 I spent a few months living in Riga, Latvia, and in 2024 I took part in a study exchange in Salamanca, Spain. Throughout my time living abroad I also seized the opportunity to explore countries such as Finland, Estonia, Morocco and Portugal, and I quickly came to learn that delving into new surroundings is what brings me the most happiness in life.

I am passionate about learning and teaching languages. For the past four years I have been having regular online meetings with my Spanish exchange partner, during which we speak a mixture of Spanish and English and correct and support each other accordingly. Over a year ago I also connected with a language partner in Russia, and we also support one another in our language studies. I have also just started volunteering in a program that supports Ukrainians learning English, in which I tutor English once a week.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Thanks to my language degree I have a strong level of Spanish and Russian and can read, write and speak confidently. I aim to use my language skills as much as possible, and I have translated a video for TED Talks from English into Spanish. I also enjoy creative writing and I co-host an informal podcast, both of which have helped to develop my confidence in expressing myself. I have worked in multiple hospitality jobs, which has strengthened my resilience to pressure, my ability to solve problems quickly and my aptitude for working as part of a team. One of my favourite pastimes is cooking and developing my culinary skills, especially with fresh ingredients where possible. I have a Grade 6 level in piano and enjoy playing whenever I get the chance.

I am an avid reader and love to listen to podcasts. I am passionate about music, and during the summer I enjoy playing tennis, sea swimming and going for long walks. One of my favourite things to do when visiting a new place is to try out different restaurants, and I'm also very interested in wine. I also like to crochet.
