Description
Hello, my name is Roula! I am Egyptian/Canadian, currently studying to become a nurse in Canada.
I moved around a lot as a kid. Soon enough, I noticed that I could have a completely different life at any point if I move 100 km away. This brought me so much joy. I like to travel slow, so I can experience different lifestyles. I get to see how my mind and body reacts to living on a farm, working in a busy city, learning and teaching by the beach, etc. I love seeing these different versions of myself. It makes me feel resilient, knowing I can adapt. It also makes me feel less stuck and stressed back home because I know I always have the power to change. Otherwise, the sun makes me happy and warm! I was born in Egypt and I feel very connected to it. That also brings me joy and a sense of belonging to something bigger than my current life in Canada.Langues

I am comfortable teaching English. I have some prior teaching experience as well. I would love to learn some Spanish. I have taken a few courses, but I am still a beginner. I would also like to improve my French by practicing orally.Compétences et connaissances que j'aimerais partager ou apprendre

I volunteered on a farm in Canada for three weeks where I helped grow food in the garden, as well as take care of the animals in the barn. I truly enjoyed my first experience on a farm.
I have experience working with different age groups. Through nursing school, I have had the opportunity to care for older seniors, adults, newborns, and postpartum moms. I worked as an orientation leader in my university, taking a group of 20 first-year students through a week long orientation program. I have also worked in a retail store and a pharmacy as a cashier. Additionally, I have A LOT of experience volunteering with kids in festivals and different organizations.
In terms of teaching, I volunteered in a community centre teaching English to refugees in Egypt.
Overall, I adapt well to different environments and tasks. Nursing school and volunteering on a farm have definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone. I do not need or expect tasks to be glamorize.Âge
