Hi, I'm Melodie! I'm half English and half French, and I've been travelling around for a little over a year after quitting my job in Paris. I somehow keep ending back in Istanbul and love it here, but I am eager to go to Brazil as I am learning Portuguese and love Brazilian music.
My interests, in no particular order, include : music (singing, composing, playing the guitar, discovering new genres...), reading, history and social sciences, food (I'll try anything once, the more unusual to me, the better!), writing, art, education, languages, vintage fashion, sustainability...

I'm eager to join any projects that seem meaningful to me : after working for a company that was very friendly but that didn't particularly align with what I consider important, I want to invest my energy in a way that makes a positive impact! I'm particularly seeking to join projects in third spaces and community projects, as well as projects to do with art, music, culture and education, but I am open to everything.
(I also really really want to meet a guitar guru to help me improve my bossa-nova skills so if you know one send them my way)

I love words and languages in general! As a bicultural and bilingual person (English and French), I'm fascinated with the way language shapes your thoughts and the world around you. I have a TEFL degree and have experience teaching English, but I'm also confident in my ability to provide French lessons too. I would love to have the opportunity to share my native tongues! I used to have intermediate Spanish (a little rusty, I admit), and have some knowledge of Portuguese (though I think at this point I basically speak portugnol - I'm very keen to improve both languages!). I'm also currently learning Turkish (very slowly, on duolingo, so any help with that would be amazing)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Here are some things that I think I could help you with :

-Teaching English, French, History or basic musical skills to children and adults : I have a very keen interest in education, and obtained my TEFL certificate in 2018. I have since been teaching children in a fun, interactive way, through games and activities. I have a BA in history, am fluent in French, and know basic music theory and can play the guitar.

-Reception and admin : I have worked for over a year in HR in a small company where my main roles were recruitment and general admin tasks. I am used to talking to people, greeting them and making them feel comfortable. On top of this, I also volunteered in hostel for a month, and worked in a summer yoga retreat, welcoming guests and helping them throughout their stay.

-Childcare : I have a diploma in early childhood education, and have basic knowledge of alternative pedagogies such as Montessori, Pickler and Steiner. I worked as an English-speaking nanny for over three years, caring from children as young as 9 months up to 12 years.

-Cooking, cleaning, general housework, etc. : As a nanny, it was my responsibility to cook for the children from scratch, as well as sometimes for the whole family. I also have had jobs where it was my duty to clean and prepare rooms for guests in the past (summer yoga retreat).

-Communications, events and creative tasks : I am a very creative person! I work as a freelance copywriter and also write songs, have organised cultural events (international poetry readings), and love planning fun activities and parties!
