  • Description

Hi, my name is Lea. I am from Germany and live in Wuppertal which is 30 min from Cologne and famous for the Schwebebahn. I moved there in October 2022 to study psychology and now in September 2025 I will finish my Bachelors degree.

But you probably want to know about me and what kind of person I am… Well, what I would always say about myself is: I try to be kind to everyone, am open-minded and don't get stressed easily, I like to learn new skills, sometimes I am more of a listener than a talker but always like to get to know new people and share stories and enjoy to laugh and I can enjoy almost every type of music.
Also I like to do sports, I did gymnastics many years during high school, I go running and like hiking, yoga and skiing, I also tried surfing a couple of times and would love to do it again.
And I like to read, one of the best books I currently red is Piranesi by Susanna Clarke!

After highschool I took a gap year in 2021/22 in which I went to Peru for 3 month and to Spain and Portugal.
In Peru I had my first amazing workaway experience at a hostel right by the beach, next to a surf school.
After that I wanted to volunteer again because it was honestly one of the best months in my life.
So I again volunteered at a different hostel in the south of Peru, then in Portugal at a surf lodge and in the spanish Asturias, where I stayed with a family and spend time with their youngest boy.

So before going to University again to become a therapist one day, I want to take some time to travel and volunteer again. I like studying and university life but at the same time I am really looking forward to travel again and to do something completely different, to have a break from lectures and exams and experience new cultures and get to know new people and places.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Since spring 2023 (so for about two years now), I’ve been working as a waitress at an Italian restaurant. In addition to looking after our guests, I prepare drinks, coffee, and simple cocktails.
Before that, I worked for shorter periods at a coffee shop, a traditional German Biergarten (a restaurant with a large outdoor area in summer), and at a campsite.

Through these jobs, I’ve gained experience in hospitality and guest service. For example I know how to use an espresso machine and how to coordinate smoothly with colleagues during busy shifts.

I also enjoy DIY projects and drawing/painting, so I’m always happy to help out with anything creative!

I’m a native German speaker and also speak English, Spanish, and some French – always keen to practice and improve my language skills.

As part of my Workaway experiences, I volunteered at hostels, a surf lodge and stayed with a family. At my first Workaway, I worked at a bar and served food, helped at reception, did some cleaning, and took part in renovation projects (mainly painting rooms and furniture). At my second hostel, I worked at reception and helped prepare breakfast. Later, at the surf lodge, I was mainly in charge of the breakfast buffet, cleaning up after meals, and some gardening. My last Workaway was with a family, where I looked after their youngest child.

As part of my psychology degree I did two internships, where I gained very interesting insights into the work as a therapist. Right know I am doing an internship at a therapists office for children and adolescents.

I’m always excited to try new things, meet new people, and learn new skills!
