Hello all:) My name is Keyrstin and I am a 22 year old who got a Bachelor's of Neuroscience from Virginia Tech! I am currently applying to masters of neuroscience programs in Europe (mainly Scandinavian countries) taught in English to begin in September 2024. I am especially drawn to psychedelic research and how it can improve our understanding of the biological underpinnings of psychiatric illnesses as well as the meaning of consciousness and why we are "here." Additionally, I'm very interested in immunology and how mindfulness and meditation can allow one to up-regulate positive/healthy gene expression.

My boyfriend Noah is a 23 year old Aerospace Engineering student at Virginia Tech and has a few more semesters left before completing his bachelor's degree. He is drawn to physics and ultimately hopes to be involved in rocket design once he obtains his degree. He also completed 2 years of a premed track before deciding Aerospace was his calling, therefore he is very knowledgeable in a variety of topics.

We are excited about workaway because our goal is to explore the world more in depth before my studies continue next fall. We want to be submerged in a different way of life and gain a more global perspective in a direct way rather than planning a typical vacation, and would like to stay for at least a few months before returning to the US. We both love to go outside and love animals, especially cats. Noah has experience in both roofing and life on a farm, so he could be of help with manual labor. I could help with lawn work as well as domestic activities like cooking/cleaning/looking after the family. Both of us also have experience in restaurant settings and could serve or prepare food, and I also have bartending experience so could lend a hand if the need presented itself. Furthermore, we are both passionate about learning new things and would love to learn any skill that would be most useful to you.

Noah is passionate about music and enjoys spending his free time playing guitar. He is also a very avid language learner and would love to improve his skills in any language whenever he has the chance, so would love to be taught any languages while doing the workaway. He is an advanced Spanish speaker (Mexican dialect) and I took 6 years of formal training of French and love all opportunities to practice it. We would love to help in anyway we can and are excited to form new connections and make memories abroad before starting the next chapter of life!

Noah loves learning languages, regardless of where he ends up he wants to learn the language as best as possible. He also loves the culture which accompanies language, and whenever he makes new friends with a language he doesn't know he makes a big effort to learn it in order to communicate with them in their home tongue. Keyrstin also enjoys learning languages but to a lesser extent than Noah, Noah spends a lot of free time studying languages but she spends her free time doing other things.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Noah has experience with roofing and construction working on a farm, specifically working with cattle. Moreover, he has welding experience and a knack for learning languages. Keyrstin has experience working in a dog boarding facility as well as experience watching children.
