Hi there!

My name is Gráinne, I’m 31 years old, and I’m from the beautiful county of Cork, Ireland. I’ve been working as a dietitian in hospitals since 2020, but now I’m taking a career break to travel and explore!

My Travel Plans

In January 2025, I’m starting my adventure in Central America with two friends. Then, in March, I’ll continue with a solo trip to Australia. I’m excited to experience new cultures, meet new people, visit friends and family, and explore the great outdoors in both destinations.

A Bit About Me

I’ve always had a passion for travel and adventure. I completed my undergraduate degree (Sport Science and Health) in 2016 and spent the following year in Doha, Qatar, working as a physical education teacher. Doha was incredible base for travels. Prior to that, I spent a summer in California working in hospitality and soaking up the sun, sea, and sand.

In 2020, I earned my MSc in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics and began my career as a dietitian. I went travelling in 2022 and started my first Workaway experience. Unfortunately, I had to cut my travels short for personal reasons, but I’m exvited to restart my Workaway journey in 2025.

My Interests & Skills

I have a wide range of interests, but sport and staying active are central. I play Gaelic football, enjoy running, and can’t wait to hike and explore the outdoors in Central America and Australia. I’m also a Manchester United fan (though sometimes it’s not easy!).

Throughout the years, I’ve combined my love of sport with working with children. In addition to my time as a PE teacher, I’ve coached at various summer camps, and my friends and I even founded our own basketball camp at home—Shooting Stars Skibbereen on Facebook.

I’ve also gained plenty of hospitality experience, having worked in restaurants and cafés through the years. Growing up on a dairy farm, I’m comfortable around animals (especially dogs!) and enjoy working outdoors.

Another highlight of mine was spending a week at the Paris Olympics in 2024, which was an unforgettable experience. In my downtime, I love reading, listening to audiobooks, and rarely miss a Manchester United match.

I believe Workaway is a fantastic way to experience lifestyles and become part of a community anywhere in the world. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and broadening my horizons in 2025.
