Description
Hello there! I'm Brazilian and I have spent most of my life working and living abroad.
I worked on-board cruise ships around the world for many years in the guest services department.
Currently, I'm taking a sabbatical year and embarking on a journey with my friendly cat, Lily. My goal is to foster cultural exchanges and form genuine connections with wonderful people. I'm excited to expand my horizons, gain new experiences, infuse purpose into my travels, and create meaningful memories at every destination.
I've already had the opportunity to volunteer in Canada, Switzerland, Canada, and I've traveled to over 40 countries, and the beauty of this world don't cease to amaze me.

I’m a flexible, proactive person with a varied skill set and hands-on experience in different areas. I’ve worked with
child care, pet sitting, house sitting, and have extensive experience in hospitality and business planning.
I also have some farm experience from a previous Workaway host, where I helped care for horses, cows, and chickens, cleaned barns and stalls, and assisted with general house and outdoor projects. I genuinely enjoy working with animals and feel very comfortable around them.
I also enjoy cooking, and can help preparing some meals too.
I’m known for having an outgoing, friendly, and easygoing personality.

On the creative side, I can create content for social media and do basic video editing. I’m always open and willing to learn new things.
I’m CPR and First Aid certified.

About Lily, my cat: she travels with me everywhere I go. She's quite playful and sweet when interacting with people. She might take a little time to warm up to other cats or dogs because she can be afraid, but if the other animal is friendly, she's happy to be friends too!

My interests include meditation, spirituality (though I'm not religious, I'm spiritual), yoga, l painting, singing, a profound love for animals and nature, being outdoors, swimming, paddle board , going on trails and I've been exploring hiking and I want to hike more and challenge myself a bit more in that area. I love the mountains :)
I'm eager to learn new skills like boat driving, horseback riding, painting more, pottery, cooking different dishes, and engaging in enlightening conversations about life.

I absolutely adore kids and animals. I've had experience as a children's teacher and once had the wonderful opportunity to be an au pair in London when I was 21, caring for a lovely family with two children, aged 2 and 4.

Through workaways, I've had some truly remarkable experiences, including looking after children, including those with special needs, helping out with cooking and household chores, tending to gardens, and even taking care of animals.

I'm fluent in 3 languages and can whip up simple meals, but I also enjoy getting a bit creative in the kitchen. I'm quite fond of pet sitting as well.

When it comes to leisure, I like trying my hand at sports, even if I'm not particularly skilled. Playing outdoors with children is something I genuinely enjoy.

My career path has been quite diverse. I spent several years as a guest relations officer on cruise ships and followed that with a four-year corporate stint in business management. However, I'm currently taking a year to travel, rediscover my passions, and explore a new career path that resonates with my evolving interests.

I'm traveling with my cat Lily, I adopted her in Mexico when she was 6 months and she goes with me wherever I go. she's very sweet and cuddly and playful, she's very good with kids but she it's a bit shy with other animals at first.

Living with Jacqui in the main house, you get your own room, but be prepared to feel like part of the family. Jacqui is the ultimate big mama, treating you with love and wisdom. She’s a brilliant woman with a wealth of knowledge, and you’ll be lucky to soak up her stories and advice. Plus, she’s the kind of person you can pour your heart out to, and she’ll always find a way to help you feel better. Our conversations ranged from UFOs to career goals, plants, animals, and spirituality. And her cooking is so yummyyyy! She even taught me her recipes, and despite my lack of baking skills, she patiently helped me salvage my attempts at her brioche bread. 😂

I truly appreciate my time with Jacqui, and she will always hold a special place in my heart. I feel like I’ve gained a lifelong friend. Thank you, Jacqui, for making me feel part of your family.

Her property includes a couple of other houses, one of which is home to her mother-in-law, Stella—the most loving and adorable “young elderly” lady you’ll ever meet. If you speak Spanish, you’ll love chatting with her and hearing her stories.

During your stay, you’ll likely meet some of Jacqui’s friends and enjoy game nights and family dinners. They’re all fantastic people.

As for the chores, I wasn’t exactly a farm girl before this, but over time, the chores became easier, but they do require responsibility and reliability. She has friendly and cute cows (I miss Bubbles and Ginger!) and two beautiful horses, Kiola and Amy, who adore being brushed. And the chickens too, I love them! Lol
Being around the animals is incredibly grounding.

You’ll mostly handle chores in the morning, with a bit more in the evening. It’s always good to check on the cows’ and horses’ water in the afternoon. I spent most of the winter there, so I didn’t do much gardening, but you might help in the garden during your stay. Towards the end of my stay, we started some gardening work. Plus, Jacqui has a cool greenhouse, so you’ll always have fresh veggies and eggs!

Summing up this experience in a review is tough because it was so much more than just a stay. After traveling for so long, I needed a place where I felt I belonged, and that’s what I found at Jacqui’s. She even took care of me when I was sick. She genuinely cares about her volunteers. She likes structure (she's German, after all, lol) but is also flexible and caring.

I miss you, Jacqui, I miss watching The Mandalorian with you and I can’t wait to visit you again. You’re always in my heart.

I had such a special and wonderful time staying with this incredible family. It's truly bittersweet to say goodbye after spending over a month with them, but I know deep down that we will meet again. In fact, I'm already thinking about returning during a different season!

Michel and Valerie are more than just wonderful hosts; they treated me (and… read more my cat Lily) like a part of their own family. It's easy to see why their profile is filled with positive feedback and happy volunteers who keep coming back.

And let me tell you about Barbara – she was like having my own little sister. I have so much love for her, and her smile just brightened my day.
Your role in this exchange is primarily to keep Barbara company. It's all about having fun together, playing, showering her with affectionate "bisous" and hugs. She's a very affectionate girl, and she's happiest when that affection is reciprocated. I absolutely loved our walks on the promenade, accompanying her to the jacuzzi, going to the pool in the summer and watching her enjoy her stuffed animals and puzzles. Interacting with them together made her really happy too. Basically, you'll be her friend, there for the joyful moments. Michel and Valerie are incredibly attentive parents who take care of the other important aspects of Barbara's life, addressing her other needs expertly. Barbara is incredibly fortunate to have such loving parents, and they understand the importance of providing her with different interactions and the joy of being social. So as a volunteer, your role is to be her friend, playmate, and provider of an extra dose of love, attention, and fun times.

There's a well-organized schedule, and after the first week, you'll effortlessly settle into their routine. Plus, now that Barbara attends the institute four times a week, you'll have plenty of time for yourself too.

Though Barbara can't speak, she understands quite well and has her own way of communicating. You'll quickly pick up on her happiness or sadness, her likes and dislikes. She's such a lively and genuine young girl, and spending time with her warmed my heart in ways I can't adequately express.

You'll also assist Valerie a bit with the dishes, although she rarely asks for help directly. Just be proactive and lend a hand when you see an opportunity, and she'll truly appreciate it. Valerie is an amazing, kind and strong woman who keeps everything running smoothly around the house (not to mention her cooking, which is simply AMAZING). Michel is funny and loves hearing our stories while sharing his own, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Michel is always making sure we are happy and he even took me on some tours of the surrounding areas, and those moments were truly unforgettable, especially the beauty of the lavender fields.
And yes, I must mention his TOMATO SALAD too... trust me, it's absolutely delicious.

Oh my goodness, it's incredibly challenging to sum up this extraordinary experience in a review. I could keep writing forever, as I feel these words don't do justice to this remarkable family and the time I spent with Barbara. All I can say is that I love this family with all my heart, and they will forever hold a special place within it. They are generous, kind, and respectful of our space, but at the same time, I cherished every moment I spent with them. I always looked forward to our meals together because sharing that time with them was something I treasured.

Even my cat Lily adored staying with them. The house is surrounded by nature, with a beautiful garden full of trees that Lily absolutely loved exploring and playing in. It was a joy to watch her chase after the chickens, butterflies and have a blast.

Additionally, they have a little pool house that serves as a great hangout spot during your free time or in the evenings. You can unwind there, watch movies, exercise, or simply enjoy some privacy. It's really cool and convenient, especially when you need to maintain a quiet atmosphere in the main house for Barbara's sleep routine in the evening. I personally loved painting and doing my yoga sessions in their beautiful garden as well. It provided a tranquil and relaxing environment.

They were incredibly accommodating, and I feel incredibly fortunate that our paths crossed and led me to this wonderful family.
