Hi, I’m Christy, nice to meet you!

I’m 22 years old and I grew up in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 , but I moved to the UK 🇬🇧 6 years ago. I just graduated from university in London with a degree in Computer Science, and I’m currently taking a gap year before starting work in August. I love learning about different cultures (especially history), exploring new places, and meeting new people, so I really want to make the most of this year through travel and meaningful experiences.

My dream destination is Spain! I’ve always been fascinated by the Spanish language and I’m really curious to learn more about Spanish culture and everyday life. I’ve been learning Spanish for 10 years and my dream is to become fluent one day. I also love languages in general and I’m always happy to share my knowledge of English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

Outside of languages, I love running. I recently ran the Lanzarote Marathon and I enjoy running in new places because it’s one of my favourite ways to explore a city. I also like trying new activities (I recently picked up tennis), and I enjoy creative hobbies like crocheting and scrapbooking.

I’d love to stay with hosts who enjoy cultural exchange and sharing local life, and I’m excited to help out and share my own culture! Below are some ways I can help out :)

Languages: English, Cantonese & Mandarin (native), Spanish (intermediate)

Childcare: I grew up with two much younger brothers (8 and 13) and I have been a babysitter

Teaching / tutoring: I tutored maths to middle school students and I ran a Computer Science club for 6–9 year olds at a local primary school

Tech / digital support: I volunteer as a web designer for a charity and I have good knowledge of Computer Science

I have been learning Spanish for 10 years and I absolutely love the language! I would love to be able to practise it. I'm also interested in French and Italian which I have some knowledge of. I am also very happy to help you practise English, Mandarin or Cantonese, all of which I speak fluently.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin fluently and I am very happy to teach them :)
I have two younger brothers, aged 7 and 11, and I regularly help them with their homework.
I also regularly babysit an 8 year-old boy and a 6 year-old girl, I enjoy taking care of children.
I study Computer Science (I am proficient in Python and I know Java and C) and I am quite good at Maths - I am happy to teach these skills as well.
At my university I work part-time as a mentor and an ambassador, helping new students settle in.
When I am at home I often do housework and I can cook (simple meals).
I also have some experience in charity work as I volunteer as a sales assistant in a charity shop by Mind, which is a charity that supports mental health.

I really want to explore my creative side as well - I like to crochet and I want to learn to make other DIY projects like sewing my own clothes and creating digital art
