I am currently in Germany am I am willing to get anywhere in Europe to do a workaway in an animal shelter.
Description
Hello there,
my name is Veronika, originally Czech and currently living in Dresden, Germany. Our family consists of me, my partner Holger - both animal lovers, 2 cats and 2 dogs. All of our furry kids come from animal welfare. I currently enjoy the happy time of 'doing sweet nothing' meaning that i quitted my job weeks ago and I decided to spend some time 'just being'. As a part of it I would like to dedicate some time to work in an animal shelter or any organisation that has something to do with animal welfare. I did this kind of workaway a couple of years ago, volunteering months in a shelter in Thailand and then Spain. I am not a dog/cat profi but we have had our dogs and cats for many years, so I know what they need and how to handle them. I am not afraid of hard work or getting dirty. I learn fast and I am opened to anything new. I am willing to travel anywhere in Europe and I would like to start as soon as possible preferably now in November. I can volunteer for 3 weeks.
I am looking forward to new experiences!

I accepted the last-minute offer in November last year and I spent almost 3 weeks in the shelter. Then I returned back in January to spend another 3 weeks there. The experience is very rewarding. Veronika was, without a doubt, one of the best volunteers there has ever been at the shelter. She replied to an urgent request for volunteers. Thank you.

On arrival, Veronika didn't really appear to know what a shelter was, but another excellent volunteer showed her everything. She spent three weeks with us in November 2024 and despite harsh… read more weather conditions, Veronika always worked hard, flexibly, reliably and independently. After just a few days, Veronika already knew all of our dogs and was able to make decisions herself that improved the dogs' lives and made many processes in the shelter easier. She learned how to adapt to the difficult conditions here.

Veronika is a person with a huge heart who poured her soul into everything she did here. She didn’t just contribute to taking care of the dogs but also helped in many other important aspects of the shelter. She came up with creative ideas that were incredibly helpful, took countless beautiful photos that will greatly aid in promoting adoptions, and was always there when needed.

I was deeply impressed by her energy and dedication. Not only did she work hard, but she did it with love and passion, which had an extraordinary impact on both the dogs and all of us. Veronika is the kind of person who makes the world a better place simply by being in it, and her contribution to our shelter was priceless. I am extremely grateful and really hope to see her again soon. Veronika is welcome to volunteer at the shelter anytime.

Veronika was not only hardworking, she was a very sensitive volunteer in her dealings with the dogs, cats, Monica or other volunteers. Veronika also did a lot of repair work on our dog kennels and was talented as a craftsman, even with few materials she was creative in finding solutions. She was also very committed to promoting adoptions, taking photos and giving information about the dogs to our partner association in Belgium. Many dogs were adopted thanks to Veronika's help.

Before Veronika left, she trained up the couple of younger volunteers who also proved to be very good volunteers thanks to Veronika’s guidance and support. Since Veronika has left, she remains involved with the animal shelter. Veronika continues to help to promote the dogs on Monica’s Instagram (@monica.shelter).

She was very caring in the volunteers' house or with Monica, she also made sure that the common areas were clean and tidy. We can highly recommend Veronika as a volunteer in many areas and tasks, not just with dogs.
