Hi Workaway family!

My name is Brittney and I am a 26 year old nurse from New York City, who spent the last 2 years living in Europe as an aupair and volunteering at 4 different Workaways (2 hostels, 2 NGO’s)!

A little bit more about me is that I was a ballet dancer for 15 years and also sought out other hobbies such as photography and graphic design. While I no longer dance, I have continued to carry my creative side with me, whether it is doing photography or managing a side business, or doing my own interior design projects, I am always finding joy through creating. A few other things I love are boxing, training in the gym, anything crafty, traveling, anything to do with food, exploring new parts of the world, a good game of chess, and learning from the world around me!

People would describe me as someone who’s a huge people person, someone who takes initiative, someone who is dynamic and open-minded, and someone who is passionate. I pride myself on being adaptable and love immersing myself in new cultures and experiences. I'm constantly seeking ways to expand myself, whether it's by trying new foods, learning new languages, or diving into unfamiliar traditions. I believe that every new experience is an opportunity for growth and connection, and I'm excited about the possibility of bringing that mindset to your hostel family.

Solo traveling has been something that was introduced into my life when I moved abroad and has been the number one thing I fell in love with during my time in Europe. I am beyond excited to explore the beauty of Colombia and learn from you — about farming, agricultural work, coffee, and whatever new skills and knowledge you can pass on.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I love doing photography, shooting portraits mainly, as well as playing around with videography. I love anything that requires creativity such as graphic design, photography, interior design, putting on events, social media content creation etc.


I was an English Aupair in Milan, Italy for an Italian family of 3 kids who are seeking to expand their children’s English education in a more intimate setting, that extends outside the regular classroom. Life as an English Aupair here involves living directly with the family and providing conversational English to each child, while also developing relevant activities for them to practice. My role here has allowed me to blend my two backgrounds of being a tutor and a nanny, to form a role where I am able to be a versatile educator in their English education to being their big sister who provides care for them. In the span of 8 months of my time here, I have found that these kids have taught me more than I could ever teach them. While I have helped further their English vocabulary and grammar, they have given me a deep desire to continue seeking out experiences where I can encounter new cultures and have reminded me of my passion to not only teach, but to be a student of this world myself.

I have done all sorts of things from starting my own business to having my medical degree to photography to being a nanny/household manager to math tutor.

My family and friends would describe me as someone who is out-going and friendly, who seeks out others, someone who is funny and goofy, someone who is creative, personable, passionate, fun, honest, intentional and thoughtful!

I love weight training and boxing! I had 2 trainers at my gym back home and it is one of the things I look forward to each day! I'm a big beach gal, and am someone who loves trying new food, chatting around a campfire with people, playing board games, taking on creative projects and doing photoshoots for people!

I am a creative at heart! I love interior design, fashion, photography, and designing. It is a dream to have my own business one day.
