Description
Hello! My name is Willow and I am 21 years old and am a third year at the University of British Columbia. Prior to this year, I spent a year and a half studying at Georgetown University in Washington DC, travelled around South America studying the intersections of sustainability and culture, and spent my summers in Kaua'i, HI working in regenerative agriculture, homesteading, environmental education, and Native Hawaiian sovereignty.
My passion for environmental education and sustainability is what gets me out of bed every morning and I am happiest when I’m outside!! At UBC I am creating my own major called Humanistic Ecology which focuses on how the interconnections of culture, value systems, and education impact transitioning to sustainable alternatives, deconstructing systems of cultural violence that perpetuate inequality and exploitation, building a world of global citizens committed to a sustainable future. Outside of school, I love discovering ecological-inspired, locally derived solutions to climate change and living low-waste.
I have a lot of outdoor skills as well as experience in guiding, permaculture, commercial ag, composting, and some basic carpentry. My biggest strength is in education, writing, and organization. I am outgoing, bubbly, and love to go on adventures. I am a very hard worker with a can-do attitude and put 110% into everything I do. I am also relentlessly optimistic, mostly a blessing but sometimes a curse :)
I live life grounded in reciprocity and relationality with all beings that surround me. I value integrity, connection, humility, and groundedness and am cultivating a life of love, travel, and sustainability and justice based practices.
Right now, I am at UBC in Vancouver doing my studies and working in environmental education, I am looking for work this summer in environmental or experiential education, homesteading, guiding, or possibly something else that I haven't yet come across!Centres d’intérêt

My biggest skill sets are in writing, environmental education, guiding, permaculture and homesteading.
I am very knowledgeable about environmental issues, permaculture, composting, and switching to sustainable alternatives/off-the-grid living, and can lead workshops to just about anything related to eco-living, ecology, care for the natural world, sustianability, etc.
I have my SCUBA certification, WFR certification, as well as experience gardening, cooking, and teaching yoga (I do not have my certification but my sister is a yoga teacher and I have learned a lot from her!) I am a master of organization and I am very active and can help with more laborious projects!Âge

Autres infos...
I have a lot of experience babysitting kids of all ages! I have nannied for 2 families for 4 months, have babysat since I was 12, and have a brother that's 7 years younger that I grew up taking care of! I really like taking kids into the outdoors and showing them how to be curious and love the world :).
I also love being in nature as well as meeting new people, hearing about their lives, and having deep discussions on the nature of society and our place in the world.
I believe having gratitude and practicing reciprocity are the most important things in life. Looking forward to the adventures that come and the memories I make! :)Informations complémentaires
