Description

Hello! My name is Tina, I’m 29 years old and I’m from Taiwan.
I used to work as a nurse for 6 years. Later, I changed my career and became a freelance home organizer (yes, I truly love organizing!). Through this work, I started noticing how people often buy many “too cheap” products that eventually become unnecessary clutter in their homes. This made me reflect on our relationship with consumption and the environment. Over the past 4 years, I have been dedicated to promoting environmental awareness, including issues such as plastic pollution and climate change.

** I have successfully obtained a legal Japanese Working Holiday Visa, which allows me to stay and work in Japan for 1 year. I plan to arrive in Japan in early October 2026 and begin my journey there.**

I grew up in a city in Taiwan, where a convenience store was only a three-minute walk away, so I was always used to an urban lifestyle. However, in 2024, I stayed at a sustainable farm in Australia. I was surprised that even buying groceries from a small shop required a 40-kilometer trip. This experience made me curious about self-sufficient living, and I found that I truly enjoyed this slower lifestyle. Living close to nature also made me feel very comfortable ,I slept deeply every night and felt connected with the rhythm of nature.

Over the past few years, I have participated in Workaway in different countries:

* 2023: Guesthouse in Taiwan
* 2024: Sustainable farm in Australia
* 2025: Sustainable farms in Europe (Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Ireland)

Through these experiences, I have been exploring sustainable farming, rural lifestyles, and different ways people live in harmony with nature. My biggest dream is to eventually own my own sustainable farm, but since I don’t have land or a farm yet, I continue traveling, learning, and gaining experience from farms around the world.I love the peacefulness of countryside life, and I enjoy learning from animals, plants, and nature.

🌟 Languages
My main languages are Mandarin Chinese and English. Japanese is not my strongest language yet, but I am very willing to learn and improve.

🌟 Farm skills
I have experience with:
* Weed trimmer
* Chainsaw
* Wood cutting
* Driving an ATV/beach vehicle
* Weeding
* Planting
* Turning soil
* Harvesting
I am always happy to learn new skills. If you are willing to teach me, I will do my best to learn and help.

🌟Other skills

I worked in a café for 6 months before. With some practice, I believe I can quickly refresh my memory and help with café-related tasks.

I have also joined many guesthouse exchange programs in Taiwan (usually for 1 month every year), so I am familiar with housekeeping, cleaning, and maintaining shared spaces.

🌟 Cooking
I’m not an experienced cook, and I only know one Taiwanese home-style dish. This is the only dish I usually cook when I travel overseas! However, if you don’t mind, I would be happy to become a kitchen assistant — helping with preparing ingredients, washing vegetables, cleaning dishes, and supporting the cooking process.

I hope to meet people who share similar values and learn from each other through this experience. I believe that every place and every person has something valuable to teach us, and I look forward to contributing my energy while learning from your lifestyle and culture.

Paola and Ian taught me so much about English and environmental sustainability during my three-month stay. They are wonderful hosts who know how to make people from different backgrounds feel welcome and comfortable.

At first, you might find … read more the quietness a bit unusual, but it’s exactly the kind of lifestyle that those of us who live in busy cities truly need. Here, there’s no urban convenience or money transactions — instead, you’ll be surrounded by kangaroos, cattle, and birds. Here emphasizes reducing and reusing plastic. If you’re not yet aware of the plastic crisis, you’ll have much to learn here, but it’s a journey that’s incredibly meaningful and friendly to the planet.

Paola taught me how to cook and farm.Together, we planted seeds of lettuce and beetroot, and later harvested and enjoyed eating them. Watching the plants grow and savoring their deliciousness was an experience I’d never had before.

Ian taught me so much — he’s like a walking encyclopedia. Sometimes my English wasn’t good enough to understand everything, but he was always patient and willing to explain things multiple times until I got it. He has such a great personality, and I often think back to the times we shared lunch together after a busy morning.

I also met John and Susan, and I loved living alongside them. Susan’s vegetarian cooking was absolutely delicious, and Peter’s humor kept me laughing all the time. Our evenings playing board games together were so much fun and also helped me improve my English. They are incredibly knowledgeable about climate change, and our conversations were always insightful and inspiring.

I truly enjoyed working with Gabe and Emily as well. They gave me the opportunity to experience herding cattle and horses, which was unforgettable. Our shared meals were always filled with laughter, and their genuine and kind personalities left a deep impression on me.

During my stay, I was lucky to spend time with the children during their school holidays. They were eager to help me with my English, and we had so much fun farming, playing, and dancing together during our campfire disco night!

From the very first day, everything felt so new and exciting. Each day was a chance to learn and immerse myself in nature. As Paola said, it felt like landing on Mars. When it came time to leave, I cried so much because I felt like I had adapted to life on Mars, only to return to Earth again. But I know this isn’t the end — it’s just the beginning.

This place will amaze you, teach you, and leave you with lifelong memories. But if you come here just for free accommodation and food, you might find it boring — and maybe that’s exactly the lesson you need to learn.
