Hello!
My name is Tiernan (Teer - nin), from Florida, USA!

After working in an office for a couple of years I realized I needed to make the most of my 20s by seeing more of the world, meeting new people, learning new things, and possibly even finding a new place to live for a while (trying to make the most of my EU citizenship here!). By using Workaway, I am hoping to have more enriching experiences and develop deeper connections with people and places.

I have dozens of interests (from cooking to sports), but the passions in my life are music and academics. I like to make music on the computer and have been playing drums since I was 12 years old. My academic interests are mostly in philosophy and culture (cinema, art, and even social media!). I write independently and have presented at a couple of conferences and achieved one publication. Besides this, I love having a chat with good company, being out in nature, learning about the customs of a country or people, visiting historical sites, and simply breathing the life of the place I am in.

My best memories from my previous visits to Europe are always from long conversations with someone who comes from a different walk of life, who is able to share perspective and teach me about the world and the way people think. During my travels, I hope to have many more meaningful conversations.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

The majority of my work experience is in an office setting: planning meetings, invoicing, and social services. However, I also have professional experience as a receptionist, animal care, cleaning various settings, teaching (mostly adolescent kids), and computer assistance.

Outside the professional sphere, I have plenty of experience cooking, repairing things around the house, and caring for animals and plants. It is clear that jobs differ in the details, so I think the best thing I have to offer is my ability to listen closely and learn! I am a good problem solver and pick up on things quickly.

I generally like developing skills and knowledge in as much as I can, I am always open to trying new things and like to hear stories. In my opinion, cooperative environments generally are the most enriching, not only for the task at hand, but also learning about each other and ourself.
