Hello, I am Sheena, an abstract artist currently based in Vancouver. I grew up in India and have always been curious about people, cultures, and the quiet ways life unfolds in different parts of the world. Art is my primary language. I paint intuitively and my work is often inspired by emotional healing, human connection, and the stories we carry within us. Alongside painting, I enjoy movement practices like yoga and dance, spending time in nature, and learning from different ways of living.

I joined Workaway because I want to experience places more deeply than a typical traveler. I love the idea of contributing to a home, farm, or community while also learning from the people who live there. Whether it’s helping in the garden, cooking meals together, taking care of animals, organising spaces, or assisting with creative projects, I enjoy being present and useful. I am naturally calm, respectful of other people’s spaces, and easy to live with. I appreciate simple routines, meaningful conversations, and moments of quiet reflection as much as laughter and shared meals.

If there is interest, I am also happy to share creative activities such as intuitive art sessions or simple creative expression workshops. For me, Workaway is about cultural exchange, learning, and meaningful human connection. I am excited to meet people, experience different ways of living, and contribute positively wherever I stay.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’m a full-time abstract artist and a very hands-on, practical person in daily life. I enjoy learning new skills and contributing wherever I can be helpful.

Creatively, I paint large abstract works on canvas and create hand-stitched textile artworks too and have experience facilitating intuitive art and creative expression sessions and workshops. I also enjoy collaborating on creative projects, community art initiatives, and interdisciplinary spaces where art, storytelling, and human connection come together. If a host is interested, I’m happy to share simple art activities or creative workshops that encourage people to explore their imagination and self-expression.

Outside of my art practice, I enjoy simple physical work and being active. I’m comfortable helping with gardening, planting, basic farm tasks, organising spaces, cleaning, cooking meals, and assisting with day-to-day household activities. I enjoy working outdoors and spending time in nature.

I also have experience hosting creative gatherings and collaborating with different people and communities, which can be helpful in retreat environments, art spaces, cultural projects, or community initiatives.

I’m adaptable, responsible, and happy to learn new things. Even if I haven’t done something before, I’m always willing to listen, learn quickly, and help with care and attention.

I’m particularly interested in places connected with nature, farms, creative communities, or collaborative projects where people are building meaningful and sustainable ways of living.

Outside of my work and creative practice, I enjoy simple things that bring people together. I have recently started learning Latin dancing and really enjoy the joy and energy of it. I also love spending time in nature, going on hikes, and exploring new landscapes.

I enjoy reading, especially books related to psychology, philosophy, and understanding human behaviour. I am naturally curious about people and enjoy meaningful conversations about life, culture, and different perspectives.

I also enjoy relaxed social activities like board games, Monopoly and Catan are a couple of favourites and sharing stories over meals or tea. Movement and wellbeing are important to me, so I also enjoy yoga and staying active. At the same time, I appreciate quiet time for reading, reflection, or creative work.

Overall, I am someone who enjoys a balance of connection and calm with shared meals, conversations, laughter, and also peaceful moments in nature. I also enjoy learning about local culture and traditions wherever I travel.

  I am vegetarian by choice, but I am very comfortable around non-vegetarian food. I am happy to cook vegetarian meals as well as prepare non-vegetarian dishes for others if needed.
