¡Hola a todos/as!

Somos Carla y Pau, una pareja de España a la que le encanta viajar, aprender nuevas culturas y descubrir perspectivas distintas a las que estamos acostumbrados.
Carla tiene 23 años y es enfermera. Pau tiene 25 años y es licenciado en marketing. Actualmente está cursando un postgrado en análisis de datos. Nuestra intención es aprender, compartir y crecer juntos, ofreciendo nuestras habilidades para poder aportar nuestro grano de arena en los proyectos en los que sea necesario.
Nos consideramos personas curiosas, cercanas, trabajadoras y flexibles. No seguimos un plan de viaje rígido, disfrutamos dejándonos llevar y descubriendo lo que cada lugar nos ofrece.
Nos gusta sumergirnos en las culturas locales, compartir experiencias, aprender nuevas habilidades y crear conexiones con la gente que conocemos. Tenemos una mente abierta, somos adaptables a todo tipo de situaciones y siempre estamos ilusionados por descubrir nuevas formas de vivir.
Los dos somos muy activos y disfrutamos mucho pasando tiempo al aire libre. No somos fumadores y seguimos un estilo de vida saludable. Hacer senderismo, explorar la naturaleza, practicar deporte y vivir nuevas aventuras son algunas de las cosas que más nos gustan. Los animales también son muy importantes para nosotros, y siempre estamos encantados de ayudar con su cuidado.
Para nosotros, Workaway es una forma maravillosa de viajar de manera más consciente, compartir experiencias, contribuir en lo que podamos y aprender de las personas y comunidades que conocemos.

Hello everyone!

We are Carla and Pau, a couple from Spain who love travelling, discovering new cultures and seeing the world from perspectives different from the ones we are used to.
Carla is 23 years old and works as a nurse. Pau is 25 and has a degree in Marketing. He is currently studying a postgraduate program in Data Analysis. Our goal is to learn, share experiences and grow together while offering our skills and helping wherever we can.
We consider ourselves curious, friendly, hardworking and flexible people. We love immersing ourselves in local cultures, sharing experiences, learning new skills and building meaningful connections with the people we meet. We have an open mind, we adapt easily to different situations and we are always excited to discover new ways of living.
We are both very active and really enjoy spending time outdoors. We don’t smoke and we try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Hiking, exploring nature, doing sports and living new adventures are some of the things we enjoy the most. Animals are also very important to us and we are always happy to help with their care.
For us, Workaway is a wonderful way to travel more consciously, share experiences, contribute where we can and learn from the people and communities we meet along the way.

Pau was excellent. He is reliable, smart, and hardworking. He was respectful and a great guest in our home making the time to talk and share with us. Si quieres conocer a personas increíbles, mejorar tu inglés, vivir nuevas experiencias y conocer como viven los canadienses, este es un buen workaway para hacerlo. He estado 3 meses en la granja de Matt, voy a comentar diferentes aspectos de mi estancia aquí.

Trabajo: Matt tiene un sistema muy justo que consiste en una hoja de asistencia, de este… read more modo, vas apuntando las horas de trabajo y tienes que trabajar 25 horas a la semana, ni más, ni menos. O 3.57 horas cada noche que duermes en la granja, que es lo mismo. Tengo que decir que la granja de Matt es un lugar perfecto para aprender algunos trabajos o empezar a adquirir habilidades. He tenido la oportunidad de aprender sobre carpintería y algo de instalaciones eléctricas. Si quieres venir a la granja, tienes que entender que el tiempo de trabajo, es para trabajar. Matt te supervisará tu trabajo y si cree que no está bien, te lo va a decir honestamente. No puedes ser sensible a comentarios durante el trabajo. Y tendrás que comunicar todo lo que estés haciendo a Matt.

Actividades que he hecho durante mi estancia en la granja: Fuimos al centro comercial unas cuantas veces, a patinar sobre hielo en un lago, he ido al Royal Alberta Museum dos veces, piscina pública, discotecas algún viernes o sábado, al teatro, caminatas en parques, una ceremonia de los nativos americanos de sudor, ir a comer hamburguesas o pizza, polideportivo… Es muy difícil aburrirse a la granja, con los otros workawayers jugamos algún juego de cartas, billar, videojuegos, fogatas, lanzamiento de hachas, concurso de talentos, disparar escopetas de balines, ver películas o solo hablar mientras mejoras tu inglés.

Comida: La comida en la granja es saludable y puedes comer todo lo que quieras. Postre después de cenar.

Otros: Una buena cosa sobre la granja es que Matt es muy flexible, puedes estar y marcharte cuando quieras. Hice un viaje a las montañas, fui a visitar Vancouver y otro viaje a Whitehorse durante mi estancia. Todos los viajes con gente asombrosa que conocí en la granja. Matt normalmente hace preguntas de trivia y clases de inglés durante las comidas. Como he dicho, es muy difícil aburrirse aquí.

He pasado muy buenos momentos en la granja y he conocido a gente que ahora considero buenos amigos.

If you want to meet awesome people, improve your English, live new experiences and know about the Canadian way of life, this is a really good workaway to do it. I stayed 3 months in Matt’s farm I’m going to comment different aspects of my stay.

Work: Matt has a really fair system through a time sheet and you just have to work 25 hours/week, no more. Or 3.57 hours a night that you stay on the farm, that’s the same. I have to say that the farm is a perfect place to learn about some jobs and starting to have skills on something. I had the opportunity to learn about carpentery and some electrical installations. If you want to come to the farm, you have to understand that the time to work, it’s for work. And Matt will supervise your work and if he thinks it’s not right, he’s going to tell you, honestly speaking. You can’t be sensitive of comments during the work time. And you’ll communicate everything you’re doing to Matt.

Activities that I did during my stay in the farm: We went to the mall a few times, skating on a lake, go to the Royal Alberta Museum a couple times, swimming pool, clubs some Friday and Saturday nights, in the live theatre, some hikes, a native indian sweat lodge ceremony, eat some burgers or pizza, sports centre… It’s very difficult to get bored in the farm, with the other workawayers we play some card games, billiards, talent show, video games, campfires, axe throwing, shoot bb guns, watch movies or just talk while you’re improving your English.

Food: The food in the farm is healthy and you can eat as much you can. Dessert after supper.

Others: A good thing about the farm are that Matt is very flexible, you can stay and leave when you want. I did a road trip to the mountains, went to visit Vancouver and another road trip to Whitehorse during my stay. All of these trips with great people that I met at the farm. Matt usually does trivia and English lessons during the meals. As I said, it’s very difficult to get bored here.

I had a great time in the farm and I met new people which I now consider good friends.
