I'm so excited to have joined Work Away and looking forward to meeting new people, learning new skills and making contributions to communities and peoples projects.

In 2022 I took early retirement, sold everything and am now traveling fulltime. I bought a small travel trailer and during the summer of 2022 traveled from Vancouver Island, Canada to Ontario. During the winter I spent time in Mexico, exploring Mexico City, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, the Yucatan, Tabasco and Campeche. This past summer I enjoyed life in the Gaspe Peninsula, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

While this opportunity to travel slowly has been a dream come true (I have been waiting to do this cross Canada tour since is was 18!), I have found that I'm missing working and the structure that it provides in life, so I'm here to help, learn and discover. I think it is also important to mention that I am in very good health, medication free and reasonably strong.

A variety of workplaces and education over the years has enabled me with knowledge and skills in many capacities, which I'm eager to share with those who are interested.
Others describe me as easy going, easy to talk to, productive and a hard working, wise and brave. I hope you will find this to be true!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Over my career I have worked in many different jobs requiring different skills. I've worked in business, marketing, hospitality, business to business sales, volunteer management, retail, landscaping and stone masonry and as a transit driver (40 ft coach).
My main hobbies include: gardening, small home renos, photography, travel and jigsaw puzzles.

Gardening: composting, soil amendment, seeding, propagation and planting from pots including mature trees.

Building and Renovations: working with power tools such as drills, miter saw, skill saw, jig saw and nail guns.

Animal Husbandry: Experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and horses. I also have limited experience with cattle, pigs, goats and sheep. I believe that we have a responsibility to care for all animals to a high standard. I have good basic horseback riding skills, grooming and hoof care knowledge, and tack care knowledge.

Stone Masonry: Experience assisting in preparing for, and building stone patios, walls and ponds. I also know how to prepare cement.

Cooking and Baking: Solid cooking and baking skills and knowledge, though I am mostly a "recipe cook".

I have excellent customer service skills, problems solving skills, can think out of the box and generally enjoy helping others.
