Hi, we’re Lucy and Milena!!

We’re both half Japanese and met in India last year whilst embarking on our year-and-a-half-long journey around the world! With community having always been a core part of our upbringing and family values, we would love to learn more about how different communities around the world live, work, and support one another through volunteering and immersing ourselves in them.

For this part of our trip, we are traveling separately, but we will be traveling together for the latter part of the year!

Hi, I’m Lucy, and I’m 22! I’m half Japanese, half English and have lived in both Hong Kong and Amsterdam. I have a great love for life and curiosity in just about everything.

I’ve been privileged enough to do my fair share of travels around the world and have backpacked all over Asia and Europe. I’d love to expand my travels around the world and experience all the amazing culture, people, and landscapes it has to offer! People who know me would describe me as being easy-going, funny, open-minded, and sociable.

Some of my extra interests include music, food, football, and hiking. I speak English fluently, Japanese and Mandarin intermediately, and have just started my Spanish learning journey, having taken A1 and A2 levels in uni :).

Hello! I am 32, half Japanese, half Chinese and have lived in the United States for most of my life. I absolutely love travel for the ways it expands you, teaches you, and immerses you in different cultures and lifestyles.

It's been a great privilege to have visited 31 countries thus far and truly want to give back to the local communities in a meaningful way as I continue along this journey.

To tell you a little bit more about myself, I adore children and animals, love nature, enjoy staying physically active and creative whether it be through doing, learning, teaching, or all the above! I am a plant-based foodie and love cooking and baking whenever the opportunity arises.

People often call me kindhearted, funny, openminded, and sociable; I can find a way to connect with nearly anyone.

I am fluent in English, intermediate in Japanese and French, and beginner in Mandarin Chinese. If the opportunity for language exchange comes along with the volunteer opportunity, that would be golden!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Having had a diverse upbringing and lived my whole life in international settings, there are plenty of skills I believe I can bring to a host environment.
- Being highly sociable and able to connect with all sorts of people
- unique and diverse ways of thinking, which can be applied to all aspects of everyday living as well as projects I embark on :)
- open minded and easy going
Furthermore,
- I have worked all sorts of hospitality jobs, making me well versed in the day to day demands of hospitality
- Having grown up with 3 younger sisters I have naturally taken a liking to and am very comfortable with kids of all ages
- Both my parents are teachers and I have done lots of tutoring and volunteer teaching jobs, making me well versed in working with children and adapting to different learning styles.

These diverse experiences make me highly flexible and adaptable to all sorts of social and professional environments
