Description
Hi! My name is Merle.
Currently I am studying graphic design at an art university. I love to do pottery/ceramics, analogue photography and listening to music.
I am always in a good mood and I am motivated to help where my help is needed.
I love working with other people, living with them and learning from them, and I have no trouble adjusting to new situations and people.
When I travel I am excited to learn something new and surround myself with people of all cultures.
I love places with many Internationals just as much as very local Hosts completely immersed in the community there.
I have been learning Chinese for three years now (sometimes more, sometimes less) and I am happy to improve my skills, any chance I can get.
I have worked for a lot of workaway places before (now I want to try finding places on helpx).
I have worked on farms, with social associations and in a lot of hostels all over the world (in Japan, Nepal, Thailand etc.).
My last time visiting Taiwan I worked mostly in Hostels. I worked in Taipei, Tainan and Hualien over half a year.
Through that I am very familiar and experienced with housekeeping, welcoming guests and the organization of a hostel.
I am also interested in getting to know the countryside of Taiwan a little more this time.
I would like to work on a farm or in the nature. I have no particular skill in that area but I am very happy to learn.
I am also not afraid to do physical work and get dirty. I love animals and don't hesitate to work with them.Centres d’intérêt

-I am very communicative, I won't have trouble speaking English since I was raised in an international family. I will try to learn your language as much as I possibly can.
-I don't shy away from physical work. I have participated in several summer Workcamps in which I built a dry stone wall, helped on a horse ranch and did public space cleaning. I have experience of more than one year of housekeeping in hostels.
-I love animals and don't hesitate to work with them. To me nature is very important which is why farming of any kind interests me. Living ecologically correct is a goal of mine, which I struggle with sometimes but I try my best and would love to learn from you.
-I like to do everything creative!
For a previous host I created a booklet about the guesthouse he was running and the island he lived on, which he now uses for advertising (you’re welcome to ask me about it, I can show you some of the work I have done). I can also do any other creative work like postcards, flyers etc.
-My computer skills include Adobe, Open Office and of course Social Media Platforms and I have also worked on cutting videos (Final Cut X).
-I work organized and structured and like to work in teams.Âge

Ryuji-san is such a welcoming and easy going person!
I stayed a whole month this November and learned lots about cooking and japanese dishes which was amazing as I didn't have too much experience before (so don't worry if you're not a great chef yet ;-)...). It's a nice reward to eat the food the whole group… read more
I arrived on Ojika Island in the beginning of September and stayed two months.
I was worried two months would be too long to stay on this little Island but it turned out to not be enough, I would have stayed longer if it would have been possible (due to other plans I… read more
