  Description

  Our life is about minimizing our impact and deepening our connection to our forest and the sea. Deep, honest connection with others is essential to our peace of mind. Our kids, 8 and 12 yrs. roam the woods and seashore. We are doers; physical work and projects completed fulfill us! Our straw-bale home; a 13 year dream come true, is a testament to our drive and our passion for sustainable living.
  
  Our needs are varied, so this opportunity could suit many skill sets. Attitude is more important than aptitude for this arrangement. Priorities would be: help with brush clearing, firewood splitting and stacking, garden maintenance, help with small carpentry projects and possibly some child care. If you're willing to pitch-in in a variety ways, and are fun loving and kind we are keen to hear from you.
  
  Your accommodation is a ridiculous, playful expression of a carpenter with too much time on his hands. (me, River, from well back in time) It is vertical living, with a steep staircase and a ladder. It is a comfortable nest from which to survey the forest around. It is private and peaceful.
  
  A great opportunity if you're looking to unplug for a bit and enjoy rural life on the Atlantic coast. Families are welcome. Your own vehicle is strongly recommended (we are not on a transit route). 10-14 day minimum commitment requested. We appreciate longer stays!

  We are english speaking and welcome others from all walks of life. We are comfortable learning from you and hope you feel the same about us. We feel so privileged to live here and would love to share it with you. Walks in the woods, scavenging the beach, summer cook-outs, local farm markets, and an active community. We love fostering connections between the many great places and people in our region.

  Aide

  Our long term goal is to create some forest campsites for small groups and to make improvements to the “work away” tower dwelling. Aside from this we will be looking for help with our large garden, preparing firewood for the winter, working on small carpentry projects and if you are interested; doing fun things with the kids.

  Your accommodation will be a round, 16 foot diameter, three level tower. Very funky with big windows facing south into the forest below. The upper level is in need of some work, the middle level is kitchen/dining and living and the lower level is sleeping and bathing. There is electricity and a hot water shower with an outdoor composting outhouse situated 100ft across the yard. You will have your own private space- hosts live 3 km away on another property. This is a great place to unplug and unwind; no internet (internet available at hosts property or at the local community hall) and cell connection is spotty. The community trail network is just across the street and the shore is a short 5-10 minute walk. We love to share meals and additional food can be provided; it depends on the arrangement we make.

  If you like nature and exploring the forest and beaches, this is the spot for you. There are plenty of trails within easy reach including along the rugged Bay of Fundy coastline. From the Annapolis Valley there is also easy access to vibrant communities and lots of site-seeing (nature, heritage, farms and eateries, cultural experiences).
  
  We prioritize being outside and all the activities that come with that. We love sharing food and work and we believe that we all have something to learn from each other.
  
  Bikes available - may need some maintenance. Your own vehicle is highly recommended. We are 15 km from the nearest town and no public transit. We go to town several times a week and you are welcome to come with us, but if you want to explore farther afield your own vehicle is a necessity.
