Hello there friends,
what motivates us? In no particular order, here goes;
Running our own building, roofing, cleaning and gardening businesses and maintaining our 5⭐️ ratings. We turn up on time and do a great job, it makes us happy. We have integrity, are honest and work hard. We have enough humility to ask for help if needed.
We couldn’t think of anything more enjoyable than living our life traveling and seeing the world and at the same time offering our volunteer support and help to whoever may need it in exchange for “bed and board “ 🙂🙂
We feel a Workaway experience would enable us to have a more interesting and engaging relationship with people , community and the landscape we are interacting with.
We are passionate about wildlife and have travelled to the furthest reaches of the planet to see its beauty and wonder.
We laugh a lot, even when we’re not catching fish! We get a sense of freedom just by being in the great outdoors.
Being alive, friends, family and people bring us happiness,
We enjoy planning our next adventure.
We are outgoing, honest, friendly and physically fit with positive attitudes and a zest for life.
Neither of us smoke, drink or take drugs.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

MATTY:I have forty years experience in the construction industry and hold a full driving license.
My passion is carpentry and joinery in which I am skilled and experienced in - we actually live in a timber frame cabin which we built!
I am also very competent and comfortable in the following areas, and have good knowledge too.
* Health and safety
*1st & 2nd fix carpentry
* Building timber and block walls
* Removal / demolition of load bearing walls and floors and insertion of RSJ ‘s
( I have an excellent understanding and load bearing table knowledge of this)
* Formwork , shuttering and concreting- various tasks ie walls, pillars and staircases etc.
*Roofing - Timber,corrugated,felt and tiles (shingles)
* Drainage and guttering
* Window installation
* Paving and stonework
* Fencing
* Full house renovation and remodels
* Underpinning & Heli- bar wall strengthening.
* Brickwork and pointing up
* Decking
* Using new and recycling materials
* Keeping a clean and safe working environment.
I can work successfully and efficiently alone OR as part of a team to delegate OR receive instruction. There is always a solution and I am positive in my work with a great sense of humour.
I’ve run my own business for many years and have an excellent reputation and I am very knowledgeable.I couldn’t think of anything better than to travel and volunteer my skills working on other people’s homes and projects. It would be a wonderful opportunity.
MAXINE:
My current small business involves:
• Painting and decorating including preparation, emulsion, gloss work and varnish.
• Gardening work including:
•Clearing land for use
•Sowing seeds, potting on and planting out.
•Growing fruit and vegetables
• Greenhouse maintenance
•Weeding, mulching and composting.
• Grass and hedge cutting
• Farmwork
• Sheep, goats, chickens, daily feeding and egg collecting
• Domestic and commercial cleaning, offices, bathrooms, kitchens etc.
• Administration work for mine and Matty’s small businesses. I source, timetable, quote and invoice jobs as I am computer literate.
• I can also cook great, healthy meals using the resources available
• I have managed a gift shop and cafe, tasks included stock inventory, re ordering, staff management, cash handling and health and safety.
• I worked for ten years with vulnerable adults in the substance misuse services.
• I speak a little Spanish and work on this daily.
• I hold a clean driving license and am a good communicator!
