Hi! We are Marta and Rod and we are really happy to meet you!

We are a couple, we met at the beginning of the pandemic, in April 2020, on a wonderful full moon night, where there was just us in the amazing city of Lisbon.

Since then, it has been a beautiful journey together. Soon we moved from Lisbon to Monchique, a mountain town in the south of Portugal, where Rod worked in a reforestation project for half a year and Marta led the finance department of an incubator of startups through home office. After that, we engaged in a social impact and self development journey around 4 continents, where we lived countless experiences, from collaborating with a tea farm in Nepal to running the impact analysis of a microcredit project for an NGO in India.

Rod is thrilled about History, is curious in his nature, loves travelling (for 1y2m he travelled solo around the world), loves music, and right now he is exploring the Archaeological field.

Marta has in her heart humanitarian projects, empowering people giving them tools to go further in life is her call. As a volunteer, she distributed food to homeless people for years, and travelled to Mozambique to mentor children with the Red Cross and to teach Finance at the University. She is really committed to her inner journey (mindfulness practices, journaling, coaching are part of her daily life). She loves to sing and to create harmony with the nature.

As a couple, we love to take walks and be amazed by what comes into our path, sing and play guitar, share and celebrate life with others, have cafezinhos, take pictures, explore new cultures and develop projects together. We believe we have been really blessed in our lives and we feel very grateful for that.

Now we are looking for impact projects in which we can contribute with our energy and skills, and that allow us in return to learn and enrich our perspective of the world.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

ROD:
I have a financial engineering degree, which allowed me to work first as a fixed income trader and later in the financial control department of the Central Bank of Chile. I always kept myself close to the academic world as I love to study and to teach. I gave lessons as a University teacher on Micro and Macro Economics, as well as on Cost Accounting.
I’ve been a guitar player since a young age, and for the last years have focused on singing too. Oh, I also recently learnt to play the piano on my phone!
In 2021 I participated in Renature Monchique, a beautiful reforestation project where my team and I planted 75.000 trees in different landscapes across the Monchique region of Portugal.

MARTA:
My academic background is in Economics and Finance. I started my professional career as a financial analyst for a multinational telecom company, and then moved to the US where I worked for an investment fund. Always thrilled by entrepreneurship as a way of empowering people, I managed an acceleration programme for social entrepreneurs. After that, I joined an incubator for startups where I managed its partnerships and mentoring programme, and ended up as its head of finance. Recently I got a certification in Life Coaching.
