Description
I appreciate the small things in life and sometimes all I need to feel happy is a nice view and a book or sketchpad. However, I feel like I’ve missed out on a lot of experiences that comes with travel and joining different communities and I’d like to change that. I’d love to meet new people, see new places and laugh as much as I can on the way.

I’m a huge daydreamer in my spare time but I’m an incredibly hard worker and it’s not hard to motivate me when I know what’s trying to be accomplished. I completed a degree in psychology and have experience in childhood education, mental health issues and adult care. I also love to be active and I’ve loved the times I worked outdoors

Finally finished renovations on a house that took almost 3 years to complete 😮‍💨

I’ve experience as a labourer and with roofing, built walls, put in flooring (solid wood - laminate). I’ve tiled/sealed 6 bathrooms/kitchens alone at this point and I have a passion for up cycling furniture. Most of the furniture/decoration in our new place is up cycled from the renovations- including a scaffold breakfast bar. I built my own upcycled rabbit enclosure from sheet metal and pallets. I also landscaped our garden and cut and put in the paved driveway.

I adapt and learn new skills quickly - as a workawayer I’ve helped on an olive farm, as a cleaner at a holiday resort and on a permaculture garden.

Finally, I worked as a tutor for children with support needs for 3 years and as an event steward for a family friendly event.

This was the perfect first workaway. The garden felt more like the little forests we have near home. I love that there is plenty of room left for nature, it isn’t overworked at all and you’re free to spend time sitting or walking enjoying the wildlife. Kinga is great to talk to and always has patience to share her knowledge about permaculture and let us ask loads of questions, when I go back home I hope to learn more and put into practice some of what I’ve already learnt. I’ve already sent videos showing off the garden to everyone I know and talked about how much I loved helping there 😊.

Kinga is absolutely lovely and very keen for you to enjoy the area and Budapest and very willing to let you organise the work around your plans to explore the area and city. We split a lot of the hours into morning work then either traveled into Budapest or took some walks around the area in the afternoon/evening. She helped us organise a paragliding session for a really decent price at the local airport and because she knew the pilots they were able to fly right over the house and garden!

The living space was really big and after a little spring clean it was so homey and comfortable, plenty of different sitting areas and big enough for the two of us if not more people. The house and garden are an easy flat 20 minute walk from the HEV station and 15 minutes to a bunch of supermarkets. We felt completely safe walking around even late into the night and there’s a second hand shop on the way that sold clothes for 600ft

Godollo is a beautiful quiet area and so easy to travel into the Budapest centre.
Bit of info to help with how chaotic public transport can be: We paid for a travel ticket for 15 days (using the app GoBudapest - includes all routes and live updates of all vehicles) this covers all metros and most trams/buses up to a certain limit. To get to Godollo you then need an extension ticket on top of the travel pass for the HEV from Ilonatep - Godollo (20km extension ticket) unlike other transport you can buy a ticket from inspectors on the train for 370ft (don’t do this on other transport, the controllers spot tourist miles away and we were constantly having our passes checked. I recommend having the names on your phone as they often don’t speak English. The last HEV ran just before midnight so you can spend plenty of time in the city centre and stay long enough to see everything lit up.

Absolutely perfect first trip for us. We were talking for days after we left about how much we missed the garden and house.
