Description

Hi, I'm Kyle, a 24 year old from England. My main values are knowledge, achievement and joy. This means I'm most content when learning new things, working towards a goal and spending time with good people. I'm looking for a paid workaway opportunity starting around the 22nd of July, preferably with a host that's a fluent or native French speaker.

In 2024 I finished a Masters Degree in Biology. My studies covered Biodiversity, Ecology, Immunology and Parasitology and my final project focused on pesticides and Bumblebees. I have also worked in many customer sevice jobs from a young age, because I always knew I wanted to travel. After graduating, I spent 6 months volunteering at a nature reserve in Brazil's Atlantic Rainforest, researching bioluminescent mushrooms! It was the perfect blend of science and outdoor activity. Whilst there, I was able to visit many amazing caves, beaches and waterfalls across Southern Brazil and meet volunteers from all over the world.

Since then I have been doing workaways across France, attempting to immerse myself in the language and culture. I aim to improve my french speaking and comprehension, with the hope of settling here some day. Some of the tasks at these workaways included gardening, construction, cooking and cleaning.

As for my interests, I tend to go on daily walks in nature and some of my favourite hobbies are reading, gardening, learning about new areas of Biology and listening to music (mainly alternative R&B). I'm also very into fitness and enjoy weightlifting, hiking, swimming and tennis.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

- I have an academic background and am fluent in English, whilst knowing some French.
- Whilst I'm no builder, my parents love DIY and renovation. So I have experience with painting, stripping wallpaper, clearing rubble etc.
- Likewise, I'm not a gardener but at the Nature Reserve in Brazil, we have done some gardening, focusing on reforestation by planting native species and removing invasive species.
-I have worked in many customer service roles including retail, a waiter in a restaurant and pubs, and a shelf-filler and cashier in a supermarket. As a result I have skills in cleaning, food handling, customer service, communication and multi-tasking.
