Description

I am a very active person who enjoys travelling and learning about other peoples and cultures. I have lived and worked outside of the US for 35 years teaching Spanish, English and sports. I am fluent in English, Spanish, Greek and some French. I have a 28 year daughter who at the moment is living and working in London. I have decided to retire from teaching so I have time to do more things that I enjoy. The environment is very important to me and I try to live in a manner that is least harmful to my surroundings. I love to cook and after living in so many different cultures, I have learned to cook many different dishes.
I enjoy meeting and working with people from all over the world. I am very active and enjoy working outside. I am very flexible and am excited about learning new skills.
I am interested in working for 3-4 weeks in Greece. It depends on my visa. If I can get one for 2months, I will stay longer. I am thinking about working in 2 different places for 3 weeks each place BUT I could stay in one place for 6 weeks.
I love Greece, the culture, the food, the dancing, and the language. I speak Greek fluently but haven't had a lot of practice lately which is one of the big reasons I want to stay and work in Greece for a while.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have worked outside of the US for 35 years teaching Spanish, English and sports in International schools in Greece, Nicaragua, Mexico, Cyprus, Venezuela, Qatar, Thailand. I am very active and love hiking, horseback riding, swimming and bicycling. I enjoy cooking and gardening and love learning about other cultures. I am also very Environmental. i taught school in Thessaloniki (Colegio Anatolia) for 7 years, 1981-89). I have also visited Crete several times. One time I took 8 high school students from the US to travel in Greece. We visited Crete for 5days.

I am very active. I was a physical education teacher and I continue doing many sports. I’m an avid bicyclist (I don’t own a car, just a bicycle.) I have competed in the El Tour de Tucson bicycle race in the last 4years in the 100 klm. I also love to swim and hike. I have owned horses and have competed in jumping. I have run 3 full marathons and competed in gymnastics through the university. I also used to windsurf but the equipment is too difficult to carry around on a bicycle.

I also love to travel and immerse myself in different cultures. As a teacher I lived and taught for 35 years out of the USA. I lived in: Greece, Nicaragua, Thailand, Cyprus, Venezuela, Qatar, and returned to Thailand for my last7 years overseas. I taught Spanish, English and physical Education. I am still a substitute teacher when needed here in Tucson, Arizona. During my vacation times I traveled a great deal. I have travelled around 90 countries. I added 2 new ones last year: Iceland and Belgium.

I have a 35 year old daughter who traveled the world with me and now lives in Lyon, France. We still do a lot of travelling together when I visit her. Last summer one of our adventures was biking around Lake Como from Milan in 5 days. One of my favorite adventures with my daughter was 3 summers ago when we biked 400 miles on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in Spain in 10 days.

Except for substitute teaching , all the work I do now is volunteer. I have been working for 5 years now with different organizations helping immigrants coming into the United States. For the last 4 years I have also been volunteering as an interpreter to a group of Doctors in Guatemala for a week in January. My other volunteer passion is working with an environmental group here in Tucson. My passion is recycling and water.

To end my description of myself, I will add that I have worked with Workaway in Argentina and Greece and I loved it.
