  • Description

I consider myself to be a caring, thoughtful, considerate life-long learner with a flavor for the unique and simple. I was born and raised in San Diego, California, but have spent the last 30 years in Los Angeles teaching and raising my own children. I(twin daughters, and a son). i just retired after 20 years as kindergarten teacher - a job I would have done for free... Ive also worked as an Assistant Dean at the University of California, and served as a high school principal as well. If that weren't an odd mix already - it all started after several years in the US Army.

I love meeting new people and extending a helping hand wherever possible. Now that I am retired I would love an opportunity to learn about life and living in places I've only dreamed of. I may not have any particular skill set, or previous construction experience, but I do have energy and a willingness to learn. I am comfortable with any accommodation and can cook fairly well.

I do not plan to use this as a travel opportunity - I've had plenty of those. I wish to visit, work and EXPERIENCE living in a new place. I will only consider long term stays (1 month or more) in order to absorb as much as I can during my stay. These projects help me to share stories and experiences with my family and teach them the value, and global nature, of kindness, love, work and play.

I am optimistic and like a challenge. I wake with the sun, and have never needed an alarm clock in my life. I prefer to be outdoors, I cherish the quiet of nature. I absolutely love animals, and have never been shy. I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment, and that I've helped in some measurable way.

I am looking for opportunities in 2026!

UPBEAT.... I look at it this way..., Life is short, every moment counts so - be nice
I've never complained about anything, I've never sent back food or purchases, nor have i ever exchanged any gifts. I've lived in the tropics of Central America, and the deserts of the US Southwest. I've spent several years living in Germany while in the army. I've traveled to exotic spots like Bora Bora and sheltered in Sydney Australia for a month fearing Y2K fallout..lol. I've vacationed in Ireland and England, France and Spain. I've backpacked several of the Channel Islands, and helped build an earthbag home for friends in Costa Rica. I've spent so much time throughout Mexico, and growing up along the "border" I've always felt connected. Most of this WHILE teaching full time KINDERGARTEN 9 months out of each year, and raising twin daughters and a son two years later - each via surrogate birth mothers.
so I guess you can say that I am generally “skilled”
