Hey there, I hope you’re doing well. Welcome to my profile!

My name is Katharina, a 22-year-old from Germany with an avid passion for travelling and all things nature.

I started using Workaway three years ago as I was finishing up school, very uncertain about where life would take me next. I’ve spent a year living and working in a couple countries nearby - the UK, Ireland, France and the Netherlands - and came back with a newfound zest for life and a lot of experience that I felt like I was lacking before.

At the moment I’m busy with university, but whenever summer rolls around I can’t help but look forward to another little trip. I visited so many places, met a bunch of lovely people and had such a good time during my year abroad that I can’t see myself stopping anytime soon.

My current goal is to slowly make my way around Europe, meet and get to know other people, learn more about different cultures and find out what else the world has to offer.

I’m excited about what the future will bring and look forward to speaking to you!

I’ve been speaking English for some time and while it isn’t perfect by any means, I’m fluent enough to get my thoughts across and have a good chat with the people I meet. I don’t have any problems with writing. I wouldn’t mind teaching someone, although my accent might get in the way. German is my mother tongue, so I’m doing pretty well there. I used to take French in school and briefly started teaching myself Russian a couple years back, but neither of those two stuck around.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I love learning new skills and do so the quickest through physical practice. While I may be lacking knowledge in some areas, I do not lack motivation and a willingness to learn!

I have some experience in the gastronomy industry both working as a waiter in a couple different places and, on a single occasion, as a cook.

During my time in Ireland I had the opportunity to work in a Bed & Breakfast for four months and got introduced to the basics of commercial housekeeping.

I know a thing or two about gardening, animal care and have no problems with getting my hands dirty.

One thing I would love to learn more about is anything related to carpentry and all things DIY.

I really enjoy playing card games and I’m always up for a match of table tennis. I’ve been playing the accordion for a couple years and spend a big portion of my free time drawing, taking long walks and driving around on my bicycle.
