My name is Juan Rodríguez Vila, 66 – a man with both a Spanish and a German soul. I was born in Galicia, Spain, but lived most of my life in Northern Germany. At present me, my wife Kerstin, and our little senior dog Pancho (15) are living a wonderful place in beautiful and historic Stade, just besides the river Elbe in the North of the country – after spending many years in Hamburg in our house with garden.

I know how to use my hands and love to really move things. In the garden, craftwork, and in the household. I love to cook, and I also love to eat and enjoy myself. Growing up as a Spanish child, family life has always played an important part in my life. After the passing of my parents there is still a connection to Galicia, my focus though lies on my family here in Germany. The light of my recent life is my 8-year-old granddaughter. Our family is a patch-work family with multi-cultural boundaries. Different cultures make our lives more colorful and interesting.

After my studies of sociology and working in this area for a few years, I switched my professional field and worked as a IT analyst until my retirement two years ago. Besides all that I have had a passion for the flamenco guitar almost all my life and played semi-professional on many stages within Germany and in Europe. Music plays a very important role in my life. I love my guitar and she accompanies me wherever I go. Besides I also sing in a (multi-cultural) choir in Hamburg.

I love travelling! Ever since Pancho is with us, we have found pleasure in camping – discovering many beautiful places in Europe with our little camper van. Kerstin, my wife, is still working. Consequently, I take my own trips here & there, until I just recently read about WorkAway. What an absolutely brilliant idea! I am a newcomer and very curious and open to staying with welcoming, interesting, and different people in Europe offering my help for whatever is needed. I would come with my camper van – with old and sweet Pancho at my side.
