Hello dear world 😊
My name is Jens, I’m 25 years old, full of energy, joy for life, and a deep passion for discovering new countries, cultures, families, and meaningful projects.

I come from Germany and currently work full-time as a youth and residential care worker in a children’s home for emotionally vulnerable children. It’s a fulfilling but also challenging role that I truly care about. In my daily work, I support children and preeteens who often have complex emotional needs, behavioral challenges, or difficult life situations, and I try to provide them with stability, structure, and a safe environment.

Before that, I worked for around two years as a therapist for children and preeteens with autism. Many of the children I supported also had additional disabilities or ADHD, which gave me valuable experience in understanding different needs and adapting my approach individually.

Originally, I trained and worked for five years as a veterinary assistant. During this time, I also spent nearly two years managing a large Maine Coon cattery with over 70 cats. I was responsible for their medical care, hygiene, enrichment, and overall well-being across 1,500 square meters. Even though the workload eventually became too much for one person, it was an incredibly valuable and unique experience.

I'm also worked in landscaping and gardening for two years, where I learned a lot and developed myself further. However, I realized that it wasn’t the right long-term path for me.

Alongside my job, I’m currently studying special needs education (B.A.) through distance learning, so life is quite busy, but I really enjoy it that way. I would describe myself as hardworking, adaptable, and open to all kinds of tasks.

Now I’m excited to gain new experiences through Workaway, meet people from all over the world, and be part of meaningful projects. I’m generally open to many opportunities, but I’m especially interested in adventures, childcare and animal care, housesitting, authentic family life, and social or animal-related projects like NGOs or rescue work.

I’m available for stays of one to three weeks at a time, and if we get along well, I would be happy to come back again in the future.
What’s important to me is open, honest, and direct communication.

I enjoy being active, trying new things, but I also appreciate calm and relaxed moments.

Languages:
German: fluent
English: nearly fluent, sometimes I miss a word, but communication works well.

I’ve had my driver’s license since 2018 and have been driving without accidents.

Availability: one to three weeks at a time, flexible depending on vacation days

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have many different skills and interests, but I’m also very adaptable. I love working and experiencing new adventures 😊
What I’m especially good at and have a lot of experience with is animal care of all kinds (I’m a certified veterinary assistant). I’m also very comfortable with all kinds of house care, including cleaning.

I have a strong background in working with children, teenagers, and their families – including those with disabilities or challenging behaviors, but of course also with typically developing kids.
Additionally, I have experience in gardening and landscaping.

My main goal is simply to have a great time together – I’m happy to work hard, gain and share experiences, enjoy meaningful moments, and of course make new connections and friends all around this beautiful world 😊
