I enjoy so many things! I love the outdoors (just did a triathlon!) as well as cozy times reading with tea and soft music. I like chatting in cafes, dancing, playing games, and connecting creatively!

Description

Hello! My name's Jake and I'm happy to be in touch. When I was young, I experienced a lot of familial death, and now, I carry a vivid appreciation of life and all its wonders. Through Workaway, I hope to explore more of life's boundless awesomeness :)

I listen with my heart in my ears to all people but especially relish the chance to expand my worldview with new perspectives. I love to learn, and once I focus my attention, I pick up new skills quickly. I find fulfillment in the quest to improve myself and strive to always lead with kindness.

I'm a writer by hobby and trade. I've written a few books so far, and as I compose my current novel, I work part time as a remote writer for a call center to finance my travels. While in Italy, I want to prioritize learning Italian. I've got a ways to go - before I leave the country, I want to read Dante's Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso in their original Italian!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I'm skilled in speaking, writing, managing, organizing, and getting along with people! My most notable career experience was as the editor-in-chief of a remote newsmagazine, during which time I managed over 20 writers and edited/published over 2,000 articles. That was a fantastic opportunity, and just as important to me was the time I spent as a waiter in a cozy Italian-American restaurant in Los Angeles. In both of those jobs, I loved being quick-on-my-feet to solve problems before they escalated and talking to all types of people. I was also paid to write and edit an anthology about mental health composed of personal essays from young adults, so I'm especially sensitive to the silent mental struggles we all experience.

I've performed stand-up comedy on-and-off since I was 13 years old and in high school I was ranked competitively for public speaking. I love to infuse humor into any situation - especially awkward ones - to add a sense of ease and comfort. In college, I was the president of a club dedicated to creating conversations between people who wouldn't otherwise get the chance to meet.

I would love to teach English, especially in a small setting!
