Description
Hiya, thank you for visiting my profile,
My name is Jacob, I grew up on a small farm in rural Wales so I'm no stranger to working in the great outdoors! I love cooking warming food, living in community, learning about new cultures and exploring beautiful landscapes.
This year, I am taking a break from studying sustainability (Arts, agroecology and systems change) to explore more agroecological practices and ways of being on the land. When back home, I’m an ecological librarian, I sing in the local climate choir, create art, and I love wild swimming and camping in the Bannau Brycheiniog mountains.
I am motivated by projects that connect people with their environments and work deeply to restore relationships with ourselves and the changing world.
I would love to build new friendships and to develop my skills in permaculture gardening, organic food growing, building restoration, carpentry, cooking, childcare and teaching.
I have visited, lived and worked on a variety of inspiring market gardens and organic growing projects across the UK. I hope to one day bring these experiences back to my family’s farm.
I come with an open mind, love to learn new things, and promise to try my best. I work well in a team but also enjoy spending time alone in nature :D
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Dioloch yn fawr,
Jay

Wwoof feedback from lovely people who have hosted me in the past;
"I found Jacob already had the farming background, experience, skills, and interests for our main activity, market gardening. He understood tasks, was able to take them forward, alone or with others, and use his initiative to make appropriate decisions." - Keith and Chrystia (Market Mardeners in Wales)
"...It was great to have someone who is flexible with cooking and likes to cook with farm produce." - Bio-Dynamic market garden in the Highlands
"What a lovely young man! Super friendly, hardworking, knowledgeable, and self-sufficient...Quiet yet open with a kind soul that clearly connects with nature." - Community Food Project in West Wales
"We really enjoyed hosting Jacob. He settled in quickly, was hardworking, sociable, but also independent and happy to spend time alone. We're really grateful for everything he did while here, which was always done with care and respect. He got on well with the other WWOOFers, residents, and children. He really made the most of his time here, and we hope to see him again soon!" - Land-based community in Southern Scotland.

I really appreciated the set mealtimes where we could come together, take turns to cook and enjoy delicious food.
The work was varied and enjoyable; we pruned the fruit trees, built shelves and structures… read more
