Description

Hi, my name’s Hugo! I’m 34 and about to spend the next two years working and traveling in Australia (it’s my last chance to get a WHV as a French citizen, so I couldn’t miss it!).

I grew up in the countryside and was a scout during my teenage years. That’s where my love for outdoor activities and farm life really started to grow.

I studied filmmaking and used to work as a film editor, but I eventually realized I feel much happier working outside. Over the years, I’ve worked in catering and done a lot of seasonal agricultural work, so I feel just as comfortable in a kitchen as I do in a garden or out in the fields.

In the last few years, I’ve done a lot of woofing in France and even traveled to the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador. There, I learned about edible forests and spent time with the native peoples of the Amazon, which was an incredible experience. These adventures helped me dive deeper into things like market gardening, permaculture, beekeeping, agroforestry, woodworking, and even mushroom cultivation.
I guess I’m ready to dive with sharks now!

One day, I hope to have my own little place where I can live sustainably with a few friends and teach others about this way of life. But until then, I’m still learning—this journey is all about gaining new skills, meeting amazing people, and staying connected to nature.

I’m also really curious about anthropology and can’t wait to learn more about Australian Aboriginal culture and their customs.

And if things don’t go as planned? No worries—I’ve got my harmonica and a good mood to keep me going!

I did plenty of woofing as a farmer and know a lot about gardening. I can also be useful in a kitchen, as i worked in catering. I am able to use basic woodwork tools.
