Hi! I am a student of Veterinary Sciences and an absolute animal lover. Anything involving animals is a pleasure to me. I'm also a fan of meeting new people from all over the globe, get to know different cultures, new places and landscapes. Lending a hand when needed is no problem for me :)

I would love to learn a new language. I think Workaway is a great opportunity to do so. I'm also fond of teaching spanish (native language) or english to anyone who would like. I consider it's a great cultural exchange and an excellent practice for bonding with people as well.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I consider my skills to be animal care, cooking, socializing (connecting with people is something I really enjoy), DIY hand crafts and I have some knowledge of meditation. I'm outgoing and sociable, and a flexible person; no problem adapting to diverse lifestyles and chores :) I am an enthusiast when it comes to learning, so I'm open to adopting new skills and types of work.
I am in third year of Veterinarian Sciences at University of Buenos Aires (UBA). I have volunteered since february 2022 in a horse shelter, and a couple of times in some vaccination campaigns for dogs and cats.
My mother tongue is spanish, but I also speak english from a very early age, so I feel comfortable communicating myself in english and even teaching both languages to someone. For the past years, I have worked as a tutor with highschool kids, teaching english, sometimes maths, biology, chemistry or other subjects they needed.
I had a job at an office in 2020 which gave me some experience on administrative jobs. Also, I'm organized and methodical, so I can manage this kind of work as well.

It was a pleasure to have her volunteering at my hostel, and I recommend her to any future Workaway hosts.

Charly!
Finally found some time to write a loving feedback... I stayed for a month, in January 2023. It was my fist workaway experience every and also my first time in Costa Rica, and my choice coulnd't have been better.
Pavones is a magical little surfers town, with beutiful beaches and only a couple of shops/restaurants. I think it is where… read more I've seen the best sunsets ever. The vibe in the village is really cozy as it is small and everybody gets to know each other quite quickly. There's also Punta Banco nearby (you can get there in 15 min by car or 30/40 min on bike) to visit, where you can also surf, the beach can be less rocky (Pavones has beautiful beaches but full of rocks, just so you know), and there's a small waterfall. Going on foot is kind of a long walk but in my opinion worth it cause the path is really nice, next to the shore. You often see free horses at the beach or walking down the trail.
It's kind of unfair to say this because it's the only hostel I've been in at Pavones, but I think is the best one. It's beautiful, very practical and comfy, the kitchen is incredible (great equipment) and the atmosphere is amazing. As there are not many rooms, volunteers and clients become friends really easily. So shared meals and shared walks/surf sessions/fires on the beach, are really common.
Charly is a very outgoing and charismatic guy, loving and generous. He will always greet you with a smile and try to make you laugh, and will always be concerned about your being comfortable at his place. Anything he can do to make your stay better, he will definitely do.
As to the tasks, there hadn't been a lot of volunteers prevoiusly to me and my friend (we were two volunteers), so Charly was kind of figuring the dynamic out as we were there, which on the one hand meant we had literally a lot of free time (because most of the job was just hanging there, seeing if there was anything that came up, having a chat with the customers, apart of some daily very chill chores such as feeding beautiful dog Charly, making coffee at night for the next morning, and shopping some stuff like toilet paper when needed). On the other hand, it was sometimes struggly to understand what was needed, or what was expected of you. My advice is to make and effort to have a clear communication, express your desire to know your tasks and time shifts (at the moment I was there, we didn't to scheduled time shifts, it was a more casual day-to-day planning) and then everything will just flow. Charly will become a great friend to you.
Charly the dog (not the owner, also named Charly) is one of the highlights of volunteering here. She will be a loyal companion, follow you around on your adventures around Pavones and always be down for cuddles :)
If I had to chose again, I wouldn't change a thing; my time there was absolutely the best. Totally recommended. Pavones is a must if you are looking for a beautiful and very chill place.
