Hello! My name is Yanfei/Faye. I am from Hon Kong but based in San Francisco!
My journey is all about connection—both with people and the world around me. Having traveled to over 20 countries, I’ve discovered that the most unforgettable experiences come from the deep, meaningful relationships I form along the way. It’s the locals, hosts, and fellow travelers who transform a place from just another stop into a rich, living chapter of my life.
I travel with a sense of purpose, adventure, and growth, always approaching new experiences with an open heart, boundless curiosity, and deep gratitude. My partner and I are also proud dog parents! I have a sweet poodle, and my partner has two lively boxers, so we definitely understand the love, attention, and care that pets deserve. We’re always happy to be around furry friends, as they bring such warmth and joy to every home.
My name is Tijmen, I was born in the Netherlands in Lelystad, a place near Amsterdam. I've spent years exploring new places, both solo and with friends, and I'm passionate about discovering different cultures and ways of life. I'm familiar with Workaway and love its concept of authentic travel and cultural exchange through local experiences. I'm excited to embark on my first Workaway journey, keen on creating lasting memories and forming new connections.
Alongside running my own business, I enjoy staying physically active and being outdoors. I value learning and am always eager to pick up new skills or knowledge. Faye:
Hello! Alongside my passion for exploration and forming genuine connections, I come from various background in childcare, tutoring, and nursing studies. From tutoring elementary students in math and Mandarin to volunteering at my local church, where I lovingly cared for children during services, my experience has been diverse and rewarding. I've also provided specialized attention to children with autism, ensuring each child's unique needs were met with patience and understanding. Between 2022 and 2023, I had the privilege of supporting three families with children ranging from 1 to 13 years old, becoming an integral part of their daily lives.
But my interests don't stop there. I'm also an active person at heart. I was a former Division 1 swimmer, which instilled in me discipline and a love for staying fit. While I've transitioned from competitive swimming, I now spend a lot of my spare time on the golf course or exploring new recipes.
As a nursing student, I bring a foundational knowledge of health and wellness, enriching my ability to care for children with a keen eye on their overall well-being.
I aim to be a well-rounded and adaptable companion for any host family, fostering harmony and happiness within the home. With a heart fueled by the joy of discovery and a genuine warmth for human connection, I'm excited about the opportunity to create unforgettable memories and meaningful experiences together. Let's share meals, laughter, and care for one another—it's the simple yet profound essence of life.
Tijmen:
Through managing my online business for a few years, I've developed a strong set of computer skills and have become proficient in various tech-related tasks. This experience has made me adaptable and quick to learn new digital tools.
Beyond the digital realm, I have a diverse sports background. I'm actively involved in kickboxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and have spent many years playing and coaching soccer, including leading a kids' team. These activities have not only kept me physically active but also taught me a lot about teamwork and leadership.
I also have some hands-on experience with outdoor work, having done maintenance tasks on a farm and worked at a vineyard. While I'm not an expert, I'm familiar and physically capable of some basic farm work and eager to apply and expand these skills.
In short, I bring a mix of tech savvy, sportsmanship, and practical outdoor skills to the table, ready to contribute and learn in any Workaway setting.
