Actuellement, nous sommes

Description

We are currently at home in London. I (Em) am now an online teacher, looking for experiences of communal living in Asia and Europe.

Experience: In 2022 we were on a workaway at a Buddhist monastery in Taiwan. We worked in the kitchen, gardened, cleaned, and helped with IT services to improve the volunteer programme. Before this, we were in Kerala, India, where we helped out at a Steiner-inspired learning community for primary-aged children. We led projects and read with the children, and helped out at our host family's home. In 2021, we were helping renovate a large farmhouse in Spain, involving jobs such as painting, power sanding, and cleaning.

We love every aspect of travelling: new foods, meeting new people, and experiencing a new perspective on life. We are both kind, benevolent people who genuinely enjoy sharing happiness with others.

We have lived in various countries around the world: Japan, UK, France, Spain, Belgium, and China. We really enjoy meeting other people who have travelled and who have an "international" life.

We both pride ourselves in our ability to never stop learning; we see workaway as an opportunity to hone our current skills and to pick up new ones. Workaway for us is about seeing different ways of life, and ultimately getting a better idea of what self-sustained living would look like for us in the future. Our long-term dream is to renovate a self-sustaining off-grid rural home where we would raise our children and one day host volunteers ourselves.

In our spare time, we go bouldering and climbing. Outdoor activities such as hiking, fresh water swimming, and camping are how we like to spend our holidays.
We are really into board games - we own about 20!
Reading is a big passion for both of us (particularly Em). We are currently carrying with us a small library of 20-ish books.
To say that we are foodies is an understatement - we love pretty much all cuisines over the world! Our favourites would be Japanese and Chinese. Jacques is also a keen chef.
