Hello! My name is Emily, I’m 28 years old and originally from Colorado, USA. For the past years, I've been exploring different countries and cultures around the world as a teacher, humanitarian worker, and volunteer. Growing up, I was a Scottish Highland Dancer and travelled to many Celtic festivals to perform and compete. These days, I love to sing and play the ukulele :) I feel most at home in nature - in mountains, forests, or by the sea. I love to hike, camp, and bike.

A bit more about my experiences....

🌱I really love to teach in outdoor and non-traditional settings. I've worked as a summer camp educator at an organic farm, as an arts educator at a kindergarten, and as a tour guide at an animal sanctuary.

🏫 I’m also a TESOL-certified English teacher. I've taught youth and adults in schools and community centers in Greece, Bosnia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the USA. Last year, I wrote a curriculum book for teaching adult refugees.

🪻As a young person, I tended a backyard vegetable garden with tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, and lots of herbs! Since then, I've worked on for 7 different farm and garden related workaways! I'm happy doing all manner of farm and garden related tasks.

🐐 I adore animals and have worked with sheep, donkeys, alpacas, goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and pigs. I have two cats at home and volunteered at my local humane society for eight years!

I love meeting new people around the world. I think it's really special to share food, housing, and extended time with people of a different culture. I’m excited to keep building community through workaway! :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

🌱I have experience with planting, harvesting, weeding, watering, and tree pruning. At a recent workaway, I helped build raised garden beds out of recycled wood! I also created a sensory path for kids and have painted fences and pools.

🐐I have experience working with sheep, alpacas, goats, donkeys, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, dogs, and cats. I am happy mucking out stables, collecting eggs, assisting with grooming, administering medicine, or anything else animal related.

🧼I have experience with customer service and hospitality. I have worked multiple roles as a front desk manager, triaging calls, and scheduling calendar events. I have experience with cleaning apartments, changing sheets, doing laundry, and general house-work.

🏫 I have a TESOL Certificate for teaching English, and 3 years of teaching experience.

👩🏼‍👦I have worked with kids of all ages, including as a nanny, Scottish dance teacher, English teacher, and outdoor educator.

I'm curious to learn more about traditional medicines and herbs, and wildcrafting! 🌿I worked in the medicines section of a natural grocery store for over a year, so have some knowledge of the subject, but would love to grow my skills
