Description

Hello! My name is Elodie and i’m an 19 year old from Melbourne, Australia and have just started my first year of University after taking a gap year where I travelled across Europe and parts of the Middle east and Asia. I have 6 weeks for my summer university break and have chosen to go on an adventure to Central Asia as I want to experience cultures and places unlike my home to gain perspectives and a deeper understanding of the world I live in. I am not just interested in being a tourist but truly connecting and contributing to the places I visit, I believe I can achieve this through Workaway as it allows me the opportunity to use my skills to engage with and give back to a community or place! I did three Workaways last year, including working at a shop in a Monastery in Germany, gardening at a chateau in France and helping at a cat rescue in Türkiye. I loved each experience as I became immersed in the community, learnt new skills and contributed my knowledge to each place I visited!
Overall, in my travels I hope to grow as a person and to explore my passions such as connecting with the natural world, eating and cooking food, craft and art making as well as going on adventures and trying new things!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have a wide range of skills that I could use to contribute to a community or place. Firstly, I am a native English speaker and would love to teach and share my language! I have a deep love for the natural world and have been a member of the environment club all throughout High School, this involved regular gardening sessions to revegetate a part of my school. Through these gardening sessions I have learnt how to take care of the land and how to maintain a garden. As well, I have general house keeping skills such as cleaning and maintenance. I can also care for pets such as dogs and horses, as I grew up with a dog and spent years doing horse riding lessons! I understand the demands and expectations of work and can easily follow instructions and complete jobs, as I have had a part-time job for over 2 years at a cinema where I have learnt to clean cinemas, interact with customers, make coffees, serve food, as well as help manage events such as film festivals and birthday parties. One of my mains skills is definitely my creativity, I love to bring new creations into the world with my mind and hands, whether it be short-films, collages or textile work, I have a deep passion for creating. I have studied art all throughout school and have also attended acting classes for six years, this means I have lots of practical skills and can aid with DIY projects, crafts and more specific things such editing videos or designing posters! My creativity also means I can think outside of the box and find new unique ways to do things! I also have strong computer and digital skills and can assist with tasks such as social media, creating blogs and general computer based jobs.
