Hello, my name is Ella.
I always wanted to travel before studying (or whatever else it is I'm going to do). It's a bit cliche but I first fell in love with New Zealand when I watched Lord of the Rings as a child. Since then the Idea of experiencing New Zealand first hand has been stuck with me. I want to expand my horizon of the world and learn about different people, cultures etc. In that I am a very courios person, who likes to try new things. I like to throw myself into adventures, before thinking to much about whether it is out of my comfort zone or not. That's how I grow as a person. Contrary to how that might sound I am also a very calm and considered person. I like staying in one place a bit longer to get the full experience instead of jumping around a lot. Eventhough that way one could possibly see more things.

Hi my name is Luisa.
I am currently 20 years old and brand new to workaway. Rightnow I have a gap year between completing my military service and probably starting my studies at a college in autumn 2024.
Honestly, in the last 20 years, apart from school and a bit of maritime work, I have not been able to gain much experience or knowledge in different areas, which is why I can not enumerate a long list of things here now.
In the two years i worked on deck duty in the navy, however, i learned a bit of manual skills and craftsmanship and nowadays have no problem shedding a few drops of sweat at work.
But what I can say is that I like to lend a hand and I am an open and communicative person. I love to meet new people with their individual stories and am always happy to have conversations with strangers which is probably why people tend to say I'm someone more of the talkative kind. Maybe you could also call me an adventurer because of my urge to test my personal limits in extreme situations but I am usually a controlled person though I'm often described as someone with a "firework" of ideas and thoughts in my head which sometimes leads to me jumping from one to another topic or idea and creating several things at a time.
I also do a lot of sports, like to read and really like beiing outside be it to explore a new city and its surroundings, or to go hiking. This could all have contributed to my early interest in New Zealand. I grew up hearing stories from my parents about all the things they experienced on their honeymoon months in New Zealand, the hikes they took, and the places they visited. I was also fascinated by the books of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and everything around it from an early age, and of course I learned to love the landscape through the movies.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Hello this is Ella:)
I am a quick learner, in particular when it comes to crafts like woodworking. My mother is a carpenter and I have always enjoyed helping her out. For example I have build beds, a small shed or sanded a floor.
In my two years in the german navy I have also aquired some mechanical and nautical skills. Those have broaded my understanding on how maps work, but furthermore what physics looks like in praxis with pumps etc.
I also have some basic knowledge about sewing, which I have a lot of fun doing.
Lastly, I have worked twice as a runner in a restaurant. Though that was only a few month I gained some insight on customer services.

Hi and I'm Luisa,
just like Ella I like to describe myself as a quick learner.
Before going to the navy for two years I spend a lot of time working at a horse stable close to my hometown not only fending to the horses but also giving simple riding lessons to teenagers with down-syndroom.
From 2019 to 2021 I also helped out in weekly cooking classes organized by CARITAS in order to help mentally and/or physically handicapped persons.
I have also been active in different voluntary work with children in Germany and France ( even though I am afraid that after the years I have forgotten most of the French I learned) and I am always open to all kinds of board and card games ;)
