Description

Hi I'm David. My day job is Sustainability Manager at a charity. I try to live my values. I run, I keep fit, I can happily walk for miles, even in harsh weather, sometimes with a local long distance walking group. I also belong to a book club. Keen reader. My kids are grown up and I have a bit more time to try things out.

I love being outdoors, exploring new places and learning continuously. I'm curious and I don't want to just be a tourist in the places I visit. I'm a hard worker. My background is recycling and I really really don't mind getting my hands dirty.

I have done four Workaways on small holdings in northern Norway and Iceland. I loved every minute. Lots of odd jobs planting, ploughing, chopping, painting, cleaning out chickens, mucking out a sheep shed, building a fence, laying paths, preparing meals and so on. Met some great people, some I'm still in touch with. I'm looking for more challenges and an opportunity to get up a mountain or two.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Most of my working life I've been hands on - driving vans, lifting, shifting as required - and I'm comfortable with that. I'm fit and I'm willing to pitch in. I enjoy working as part of a team. I'm thorough, I'm focused and work best when I'm clear what I'm doing. If I am put on a certain task I will do it to the best of my ability. Good with tidying, painting, cleaning, basic gardening. Decent cook, specially vegan.

I am an optimist and I think there's a lot right with the world, even if things feel grim sometimes. Working together and seeing different perspectives is an important part of that. I get a lot from meeting new people with different backgrounds.
