hello!
My name's Dakota, I'm 24 and I've spent the last 5 years living and traveling in British Columbia, Canada. I’ve spent much of this time travelling throughout BC (and recently Ontario!) due to working in seasonal hospitality jobs, I'm very greatful for this line of work as it gifts me great opportunities to see beautiful & remote places within Canada, as well as time off in between to travel to other destinations!
Most of the work I've in the hospitality industry has been housekeeping, so I've got great cleaning and organizational skills! my line of work also gives ample opportunity to chat with new people, and I love getting to hear peoples unique stories. It's one of the things I also enjoy about workaway. I also greatly enjoy and have experiance in arts & crafts, gardening, cooking, amateur photography, landscaping, looking after children, hiking & camping. (I recently completed the West Coast Trail!)
I’m adventurous and curious yet do my best to maintain a grounded personality. My first workaway experiance was one where i was Immediatley welcomed into their daily life, while fulfilling a purposful and helpful role. It was unforgettable and something I'll forever be thankful for.
I'm currently finishing up a summer season at a fishing lodge in northern Ontario, and I'm looking for a workaway in Canada starting sometime in early September. I have a few months off before I start my next job in November, and I'm open to the potential of spending all that time in one place or breaking it up in mulitple locations. I'm excited to travel more within the country this fall and get to meet my fellow Canadians!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
Gardening => growing up in rural Alberta Canada my mom always kept a greenhouse full of tomatoes and a large veggie garden. I was always by her side helping with the weeding, watering, transplanting seedlings, harvesting and on occasion helping to preserve the harvest by canning and drying.
Landscaping => Basic knowledge of trimming shrubs/trees, edging, mowing the lawn, clearing deadfall, and planting. These skills were acquired both informally with friends and family and while working as a housekeeper at Blind Channel resort, BC Canada .
Housekeeping & Laundry => I have 4 years of cleaning experience after working in various housekeeping and housekeeping supervisor rolls at resorts, hotels and luxury lodges throughout BC Canada.
Reception => I have 4 months experience as a front desk agent in Central BC Canada where I checked in guests, handled credit card and cash transactions, explained procedures and promotions, and answered guest inquiries.
Childcare => As the oldest of 4 siblings, 2 of which are 13 years my junior, I grew up babysitting often and am no stranger to being around children. I’m very patient and kind, and always enjoyed reading, going for nature walks, cooking and baking, and getting creative with my little brothers and sister.
Housesitting/Petsitting=> I grew up with cats and dogs, and for a brief period of time chickens. I love animals and spending time with them, especially cats but I don't discriminate! I have references for both housesitting and petsitting available.
Cooking & baking => I love to cook and bake, especially when I get to share what I’ve made with other people! Some of my favourite baked goods to make are cookies, brownies, pies, banana bread, coffee cake, and pull-apart herb bread. For meals I love to make soups and stews such as beef, broccoli cheddar, lentil, sausage tortellini, and chilli. Pasta is a favourite as well, carbonara and pesto in particular. Other dishes I commonly make include shakshuka, schnitzel, chicken tinga, chickpea curry, hummus and pita, and various other dishes. Most commonly I don’t cook with meat but I’m not against it. I’m always keeping an eye out for fun new kinds of food to make!
