Hi! We are Chiara and Xander. We are in our early twenties and are both architecture students from the UK, studying in Scotland. We are very excited for the opportunity to travel and experience new places and ways of life!

We're both curious, dependable, and easy to get along with. We are open to all sorts of activities and volunteering work, and are both very interested in practical and/or creative work. We are both physically fit and enjoy outdoor activity and exercise, so we are more than happy to get stuck in to any physical or more demanding work!

We are especially enthusiastic about being outdoors and active, so this is an aspect of Workaway that we are really looking forward to. We enjoy hiking and swimming as well as a variety of sports (from water sports to climbing), and yoga and Pilates practice, so spending lots of time in and around nature is always big plus.

Amongst our passions are:
Xander is interested in all things woodworking and making (he works part-time as a carpenter on some very cool timber framing projects, working primarily with hand tools). We also love music - Xander is a guitarist and pianist, mainly playing blues and jazz, and Chiara sings. Chiara is a keen photographer and painter and enjoys getting involved in all sorts of creative projects, whether that be DIY or writing and photography projects or hands-on making.

We also really enjoy cooking! Eating well and enjoying preparing a meal is an important part of our life, so we'd love to help in the kitchen and maybe learn a thing or two about your cuisine (or if you prefer we are more than capable of looking after ourselves). We eat everything we have no special requirements!

We’re here to connect with people from different walks of life, gain real life experience and to contribute meaningfully wherever we go. Workaway gives us the perfect opportunity to grow personally while helping others with their projects, no matter how big or small.

We have both have an interest in language learning; we studied languages throughout school (French and Spanish), as well as speaking some with family at home (Portuguese), and have spent some time living abroad to improve these skills, so can certainly help out or share some language skills. We are also interested in learning any new languages :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

What we can offer:
-We are both Architecture students at the university of Edinburgh, so of course both have an interest in building and designing.
Xander has experience with woodworking and carpentry so can offer his skills for similar projects.

-We both enjoy travelling and language learning; as well as our native English, Xander speaks good Spanish and Chiara speaks some French and Portuguese.

-We are very comfortable with manual labour and physical tasks

-We are good with (and love) animals (we both have pets and previous experience caring for animals)

-Plenty of gardening and DIY/home repair experience

-Experience with kids and babysitting

-We are adaptable and independent and are used to living abroad and embracing new environments

-We are fast learners and hands-on helpers, and have lots of experience with working well in groups

-Strong work ethic and a good sense of humor

-Flexibility: We’re happy to try many kinds of work

-Willingness to learn and take direction
