Hi there! My name is Bastien, I’m from France and I’m currently studying political science.

I grew up in the countryside, had a peaceful childhood, and spent most of my life in the same place without traveling much. But two years ago, I decided to make the most of my summer breaks by working abroad.

So far, I’ve had the chance to travel to the Netherlands and Ireland, where I worked as a waiter and housekeeper. These experiences allowed me to meet amazing people, step out of my comfort zone, and learn a lot about myself along the way.

I really enjoy meeting new people, discovering different cultures, trying new jobs, and improving my language skills.

This summer, I’m planning to continue the adventure! After a month of backpacking through Europe with an Interrail pass in June, I hope to find new places, new people, and new experiences in July and August!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I’m currently a political science student in France, and I hope to start a master’s degree in humanitarian action abroad next year (if I get accepted!).

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work in various fields to gain experience and save some money.

I started by working in the vineyards during my first summers, then I worked as a temp for Pasquier (a French bakery company) where I did different tasks such as cleaning and assisting with recipes.

Later, I spent a summer working as a waiter in Maastricht (Netherlands), and last summer I worked as a housekeeper in Kinsale, Ireland.

I also did an internship at Utopia 56, an association that helps people in extreme poverty and difficult situations, which was a truly meaningful experience for me.

All these jobs allowed me to learn so many new things and develop a variety of skills. But what I’ve especially realized is that I really enjoy working in a team and learning new jobs. That’s exactly what I’m looking for the chance to discover even more!

I tend to get really passionate about new things quite quickly (and sometimes give up just as quickly — haha).

For a long time, I collected gemstones and fossils (I even had a full display cabinet!), I used to keep praying mantises, was obsessed with Lego, played piano for several years, learned how to fly a drone, did some theater, and was a badminton competitor.

More recently, I’ve challenged myself to learn guitar on my own (it’s harder than I expected, but I’m hanging in there), I started kickboxing, and I’m also preparing a desert car rally with a friend!

I hope to keep discovering new and exciting things during my future travels!
