We are a professional couple in our 40’s and 50's, who love pottering around the house and garden, our wooden boat, or our cabin in the mountains.
We love meeting new people from different cultures and we love sharing the experience of life in Norway.
We live right next to the town of Ålesund, considered the most beautiful town in Norway, among islands, mountains and fjords. In our free time, we love traveling, boating, fishing, skiing, cooking, reading, or just relaxing.

We are happy to show and explain a lot of things - both historical, cultural, geographical, linguistical, technical, political, and everyday life - to be adapted according to shared point of interests of our workawayers.

We are good at finding things to do, so the help we need varies a lot.
A handy, energetic person who loves nature and the outdoor would be perfect. Having experience with various tools, DIY or garden tasks would be an advantage. Weather is a big thing in Norway, so workawayers coming to our part of the world beed to be prepared that it may be both raining and snowing un the summer :-)

Hébergement
Workawayers will stay in an apartment in our house, close to the town centre but also to the sea, where we can also go fishing. The mountain paths are just 5 min walk away, which can provide a breathtaking view over the islands, mountain peeks and the fjords.
There is high speed internet in the house.
The person who comes over, will be treated as a family member and friend, and will be invited to take part in all activities and fun around.

The region is incredibly beautiful, and a home to Norway's most famous fjords and waterfalls. If you like nature, boating, fishing, mountain climbing, photography, you will be happy here :-) You could borrow a bike, a kayak, or a fishing rod and explore on your own, or join us in trips and hikes in the area. From Ålesund, there is a range of day trips to Geiranger, Trollstigen, Hjørundfjorden, Norangdalen, Molladalen, Slogen, Nordøyene, Runde (the puffin island!), and many more. If you like diving, surfing or windsurfing, there are great places at Vigra, Alnes, Hoddevik, and Lyngstøylvatnet (but for these, you need to have your own equipment).

Rémy is a very nice and friendly workawayer, he is chatty and communicates easily. He was bot very experienced in the type of tasks we did, but he is a quicl learner and got his hands on things pretty fast.

David is a lovely person and an excellent helper. He joined us for almost 5 weeks and gave us a hand in various tasks around the house and the garden. He is easy-going, yet respectful, friendly and social, yet indeoendent, which mase it very easy for him to integrate into out household.

Volunteering in Antonia's home was good experience. Her and Stig are friendly,helpful and good host. There were some harder and easier days as far as workload is concerned. Ålesund is great place and they are given me a scooter and bicycle for exploring area. Visit of Geirangerfjord will remain in good memory.
