Hi there! My name is Andrew, welcome to my profile!

Currently looking for opportunities in Japan / SE Asia.

I am a Mechanical / Project Engineer by trade but I have a passsion for travel and experiencing new cultures!

A little bit about me:
I grew up in a small town in the North East of Scotland and studied in the nearby city of Aberdeen. I would describe myself as sociable, outgoing, organised, and hard working. I have many transferrable skills from my engineering degree and career including teamwork, leadership and problem solving. I am well adapted to handling a variety of odd jobs and can confidently say that I’m not afraid of hard labour, thanks to my experience in the agricultural and offshore industries. I have skills in sports that I have learned from a young age such as skiing, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, paddle boarding and mountain biking. I am a certified skiing instructor (NZSIA Level 2).

Interests:
Outdoor activities - skiing, hill walking / hiking, fitness, water sports, football, volleyball, rugby.

Travelling to new countries - at the start of this year I have been in Latin America - included language school and home stay with local Guatemalan family.

English is my first language. My Spanish is okay but not fluent. I spent 2 weeks in a Spanish school in Guatemala and stayed with a local family to improve further. I have travelled in Latin America for a total of approx. 6 months in the past which has helped develop my language learning. I have a geniune interest in languages, dialects and accents.

My main expertise is in engineering, however, I have a range of other experience and practical abilities which I have developed during other odd jobs and spare time. I love hands-on learning, being in a workshop, helping to build things etc!

• Summers spent at outdoor centre (Firbush Point Field Centre). Skills in outdoor water sports including kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, paddle boarding and mountain biking.

• Confident user of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.


Education -
2017-2022: Masters of Mechanical Engineering - Robert Gordon University (Aberdeen).
• Various projects including development of my own hydro turbine prototype and 3D printing.

Engineering career -
2022-Present: Mechanical Project Engineer - Boskalis Subsea Services
2021: Construction site engineer intern.
