Hello!

Our names are Alana and Amanda, and we are two 22 year old kiwi girls who are currently traveling around Asia.

Having been travelling as a backpacker for the past 4 months, we are now eager to slow down our travels and believe that volunteering would be the ideal next step for us to connect on a deeper level with a local community.

We both completed studies at the University of Otago in 2024. Alana has a bachelors degree in Sport Science and Marketing and Amanda’s has a bachelors degree in Public Health and Human Nutrition.

The combination of our studies and past job experiences have given us a broad skill-set from hospitality, childcare, administration and tourism. We are open minded, flexible and willing to take on any job, big or small.

We both thrive in a social environment where we are surrounded by like-minded individuals. Prioritising our health and wellness, staying active, spending time outdoors, and maintaining a happy, balanced lifestyle is really important to us to live at our full potential. We have a deep love for learning and are always looking to continue to grow through new experiences, and we view this volunteering opportunity as a great way to continue to broaden our skillsets, whilst contributing authentically to a local community.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We are two motivated, positive, and adaptable individuals with strong educational backgrounds and a wide range of practical experience. We both hold undergraduate university degrees—Alana in Sports Science and Marketing, and Amanda in Public Health and Human Nutrition—giving us a solid foundation in health, wellbeing, communication, and organisation.
We bring a rich background in hospitality, having worked across corporate and retail catering as well as small boutique businesses. These roles have helped us develop excellent customer service skills, the ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments, and a strong understanding of teamwork and reliability. In addition, we have experience in childcare and babysitting, where we learned the importance of patience, responsibility, and creating a safe, engaging environment.
Our experience also extends to administration and tourism roles, allowing us to confidently handle organisation, communication, and day-to-day operations. We are both very social, people-oriented, and enjoy connecting with others from different backgrounds. We thrive when pushing ourselves outside our comfort zones and value the camaraderie that comes from working as part of a team.
Having been involved in sports and extracurricular activities throughout our lives, we have developed excellent time management and organisational skills. We pride ourselves on our positive attitudes, strong work ethic, and willingness to put our best foot forward in any role. We are eager to learn, happy to help wherever needed, and excited to contribute meaningfully to our hosts’ projects and daily life’s.
