Hi! I'm a 19-year-old from the US, currently studying online, which gives me the freedom to travel and explore the world while I learn. I'm passionate about meaningful experiences and I want to go beyond just visiting a place and actually contribute to something real while I'm there. This fall I'll be enrolling at UC Berkeley, and this trip is my way of making the most of the time I have before then.

I'm a native English speaker and have been learning Spanish. I'm at a beginner level but can hold a decent conversation, and I'm eager to improve. Traveling through Latin America is partly about language immersion for me, so I'm excited to be thrown in the deep end!

I'm hardworking, adaptable, and genuinely open to whatever needs doing, whether that's working in a garden, helping teach, or pitching in wherever I'm needed. This is my first Workaway experience, but I've traveled a fair amount and I'm comfortable navigating new places and cultures on my own.
One practical note: I am taking online courses during my trip, so I do need a host with reasonably reliable internet access.

I'm looking for adventure, connection, and the chance to do meaningful work. Can't wait to meet my hosts!

¡Hola! Tengo 19 años, soy de los Estados Unidos y actualmente estudio en línea, lo que me da la libertad de viajar y explorar el mundo mientras aprendo. Me apasionan las experiencias significativas y quiero ir más allá de simplemente visitar un lugar y realmente contribuir a algo mientras estoy allí. Este otoño me matricularé en UC Berkeley, y este viaje es mi manera de aprovechar al máximo el tiempo que tengo antes de eso.

Soy hablante nativo de inglés y he estado aprendiendo español. Estoy en un nivel principiante, pero puedo mantener una conversación básica y tengo muchas ganas de mejorar. Viajar por América Latina es en parte para sumergirme en el idioma, ¡así que estoy emocionado de lanzarme al agua!
Soy trabajador, adaptable y genuinamente abierto a lo que sea necesario, ya sea trabajar en un jardín, ayudar a enseñar o colaborar donde se necesite. Esta es mi primera experiencia con Workaway, pero he viajado bastante y me siento cómodo navegando por nuevos lugares y culturas por mi cuenta.

Una nota práctica: estoy tomando clases en línea durante mi viaje, así que necesito un anfitrión con acceso a internet razonablemente confiable.

I have seven years of experience as an assistant instructor at a martial arts studio, where I taught kids aged 4 to 9 on my own. That experience taught me a lot about patience, communication, and how to adapt my teaching style to different people. I also co-founded and coached a youth soccer camp, which involved planning sessions, managing a team, and keeping kids engaged and motivated. Teaching and mentoring come naturally to me.
I work well with all kinds of people. Whether it's collaborating with coworkers, leading a group, or building rapport with strangers, I tend to connect easily and get along with everyone. I've held multiple jobs that required strong teamwork and communication, and I've consistently been someone others rely on.
Physically, I'm fit and capable. I work out seven days a week and have no problem with demanding manual labor, long hours, or outdoor work in tough conditions. I'm just as comfortable digging in a garden as I am in a classroom.
Beyond specific skills, I'm genuinely curious and driven. I don't need to be told twice. I ask questions, take initiative, and always want to understand the bigger picture of what I'm contributing to.

Tengo siete años de experiencia como instructor asistente en un estudio de artes marciales, donde enseñé a niños de 4 a 9 años de forma independiente. Esa experiencia me enseñó mucho sobre la paciencia, la comunicación y cómo adaptar mi estilo de enseñanza a diferentes personas. También cofundé y entrené un campamento de fútbol juvenil, lo que implicó planificar sesiones, gestionar un equipo y mantener a los niños motivados. Enseñar y mentorear me salen de forma natural.
Me llevo bien con todo tipo de personas. Ya sea colaborando con compañeros, liderando un grupo o conectando con desconocidos, tiendo a relacionarme fácilmente con los demás. Outside of work and volunteering, I surf and hike whenever I can. Being outdoors and staying active is a big part of who I am. I also weightlift daily and have a strong interest in fitness and health. I play and coach soccer, and love the teamwork and energy that comes with the sport.
I have a growing interest in photography and enjoy capturing the places and moments I experience while traveling. I'm also passionate about law, politics, and global affairs, and love having conversations about how the world works.
I'm a decent cook and enjoy making meals, so I'm always happy to help in the kitchen. I look forward to learning new recipes and food traditions wherever I end up!

Fuera del trabajo y el voluntariado, hago surf y senderismo siempre que puedo. Estar al aire libre y mantenerme activo es una gran parte de quién soy. También hago pesas a diario y tengo un fuerte interés en el fitness y la salud. Juego y entreno fútbol, y me encanta el trabajo en equipo y la energía que trae este deporte.
