Last minute request:
I currently live in Tenerife, but I will be traveling to Galicia from Valencia on August 7th. I would like to stay on the mainland until around August 12th–13th or longer, as I am hoping to experience the total solar eclipse visible from mainland Spain.

ABOUT ME

• I am currently living in Tenerife, Spain.
• I have been an active Workaway member for over 12 years and I'm also a Workaway Affiliate, recommending the platform based on my own extensive experience.
• I have vast experience with house sitting and pet sitting, and I'm happy to help with similar projects in the Canary Islands and mainland Spain.
• I'm also open to opportunities in other locations, depending on travel costs and logistics.

I am curious and open-minded with a lot of interest in humans, culture, geography and nature.
As a university graduate, I still crave for more experience and personal development.
People find me trustworthy and reliable. Workaway for me is a chance to meet fantastic human beings and to expand my knowledge and skills. I made friends with most of my previous hosts, and we have been in touch since.

*I would really appreciate if hosts replied to emails, even if they are not able to host me or anybody else. It is sometimes a matter of booking my journey within a day or even an hour and a reply (ANY REPLY) would make it so much easier to plan my travels. It's not nice to be ignored, after all....

I volunteered here for 3 weeks in May 2019. The place is absolutely idyllic and serene and the hosts incredibly hospitable and easy-going. There are four people in the family-Filip, who you will most likely exchange emails with, his girlfriend Magda and the parents -Dana and Norbert. For the first week I mostly assisted Dana with the gardening and some housework and door frame painting. In my time off Dana offered to drive me around one day and showed me beautiful local architecture typical for the area. She also introduced me to her friends, two of whom are the local artists. As a result I had a chance to attend mosaic and ceramics workshops, which was fun! I also participated in a white singing session (traditional folk songs) that Dana attends once a week. All of these were great cultural exchange experiences.
During the two remaining weeks I helped Filip in some online work ( when the weather was nasty and we couldn't carry on outdoor projects) , furniture sanding/varnishing and assisted him at the vet's with the dogs. I also helped in some food preparation for a big group visiting over the weekend. On a Sunday we cycled across the local villages so I could explore the region and the scenery, which is stunning! Surprisingly, we were offered to meet a Mexican Shaman who was visiting someone in the neighbourhood and we spontaneously decided to have a therapeutic session with him. What an adventure! What is more, there is a replica of a medieval village and a real magical stone circle on the farm, seriously much better than Stonehenge. On a full moon night we went sunset gazing in a beautiful spot that only Filip knows and it was one of the kind experience of seeing a sun set and a moon rise at the same time. And it all happened in Polish Izerskie Mountains:)
As you can see, there was so much happening in such a short period of time that I was a bit reluctant and really sorry to leave.
There is a proper work-time off balance at Harmony Valley and you can equally spend quality time with your hosts as well as have some privacy and enjoy peace and quiet of the place. If you have special dietary requirements, don't hesitate to inform the family about it and they will be happy to provide everything you need. Dana will always make sure that you are not hungry and have snack and tea/coffee breaks while working.
To sum up-my stay was one of the nicest workawaying experiences I've had and I will definitely recommend it. Thank you Filip, Magda, Dana and Norbert for an unforgettable experience and good luck with all your future projects and endeavours. You are doing a great job! As I am revolving around Sudety mountains, I am sure we will bump into each other one day, sooner or later:) Cheers!

In the beginning I was planning to stay for about 4 weeks only because it is my first workawaying experience and I was full of doubts and uncertainty. However, after a short period of time I got so much involved in the place emotionally that I … read more procrastinate the decision of leaving as it is really hard to say goodbye to the people and the quinta itself once you eventualy land here:)
From the first day of my arrival I was feeling very welcome and I knew I was in the right place with the right hosts. The place is absolutely beautiful and the guesthouses and facilities are genuine pieces of art. There has been a lot of talent and effort put in the arrangement on the whole property and it's been a real pleasure to share my skills and help with the owners seeing them happy with the results. The work is various and the range of jobs includes gardening, general maintenance, cleaning, restoring old furniture and other accessories, painting, interacting with international guests, cooking support and many more but there isn't any strict timetable, everything is flexible and depends on a particular day, priorities of the moment and the weather, of course. The work is sometimes hard, another time very relaxing but it's always very rewarding. And there's still a lot of free time left after work.
I have learnt so much here-not just practical and useful things about the household and the garden but also about myself and other people. It's amazing how many great people and personalities you can meet while working in the quinta. Even though it sounds trivial, working here helped me to overcome my fears and weaknesses, which I am very proud of:)
The family are great, happy, and relaxed people and along with loveable dogs, cats and the horse, they create the general atmosphere of the place. You can simply sense good spirits and vibrations in the air :) Not only are they very attentive, sociable and friendly towards the guest but everybody, whoever enters their house. You will never be left alone if you need advice, help or assistance.This place can't be a failure, it has been a success already and if you really want to feel happiness, harmony and sense of achievement (as I did) -come here. Thank you Inge & Theo for a fantastic lifetime experience I had with you.
